That's one foodservice size can. It might be labeled in ounces. Stewed tomatoes have additional ingredients: Tomatoes, Tomato Juice, Sugar, Salt, Vegetables (Onions, Celery, Green Bell Peppers), Citric Acid, Calcium Chloride, Spice You'd have to account for that if using fresh tomatoes, plus cook it for a longer amount of time. I've never liked stewed tomatoes because of the sugar. Cindy Hamilton |

I was aware of the labeling, but not of the ingredients. Thank you! Reminds me of a killer catchup-recipe I got which uses "tomato sauce" which I had to convert myself - but it was worth the effort! I'll also add....wait for fresh garden tomatoes and fresh corn too. The wait is well worth it. IMO, canned tomatoes are *splat* in any world. Nowhere near the taste of fresh. |
