Default Supper tonight

Grilled beef tenderloin, steamed green beans, boiled potatoes, sauteed
cherry tomatoes, salad with blue cheese dressing and a roll. Dessert
was raspberry shortcake.

Sounds nice! I pan fried catfish fillets, made a barley pilaf in the
oven and roasted some brussels sprouts. No dessert. Might have a
couple of scoops of ice cream later.

My sausages are cooked but they were weird. I can't remember the brand.
Combination of beef, pork and chicken but labeled as Polish. They looked
like slightly large hot dogs and smelled like hot dogs while cooking.
Apparently this is a scent that canines like because when I opened the
garage door to take the apple scraps out, the scent wafted outside and the
people who were walking their dogs were suddenly veered towards my house.
Heh. There were no cooking instructions for these things so I pan fried
them. But here's the weird thing. As they began to brown, they somehow
emitted a sticky residue that coated my pan. It started with what looked
like little white bits coming to the surface of the tubular meat, sort of
like fat but not really fat as they were not greasy.

Since I was going to serve the apples with the meat, my intent was to use a
paper towel to wipe out the pan, then put the butter in for the apples. But
this didn't work as the paper towel immediately welded to the pan. Whatever
this was, it easily washed away with some Blue Dawn.

Just got the word that husband is on his way home so need to go reheat the
leftover potatoes. Will see how they react to the sausages. Man, there are a
lot of them. No biggie if they aren't well liked as I paid next to nothing
for them. But I suspect that whatever the cause of this residue is, is the
reason they were a Woo Hoo Special.
