Maverick Farms (brand) ground buffalo. $8.99/lb. This is something I
have never run across in a grocery store ad before. Nope, I won't be
buying ground buffalo meat.

Really? Every store sells it here. In fact it is so common that I have
almost accidentally bought it instead of ground beef. Have to check the
labels as the meat itself looks pretty much the same.

The meat is a darker red color and much more expensive here. Chubby's used
to have a buffalo meat burger, I had one once, nothing that was special to
me to pay the high price for it.

I've had it and it is pretty good. Compares to ground beef and you can
easily substitute one for the other. You can also substitute $10 bills
for $5 bills. I just don't see why you'd want to do that though.

I had a "beefalo" burger at a county fair when I was a teen. It tasted
okay but not long afterwards I felt sick to my stomach... uh oh...
Imagine my embarrassment as a 16 year old, vomiting in front of my
boyfriend (and everyone in the near vicinity). There was no place for
me to go, I ran behind a tent and up it came. Other than cotton
candy, I've never eaten "fair food" again.

Yes, I can see that. I did sort of the same thing after getting off one of
those fast whirl rides when I was a teenager. Good lesson, don't eat fair
food before going on rides. LOL

The stores around here are carrying it. I see it at Costco. I used
to buy it years ago when it was around the price of ground beef. We
liked it. I first had a buffalo burger at Wall Drug in South Dakota
and thought it tasted good so I bought it when I saw it at home. The
meat is darker red. Tastes pretty much like beef but is leaner. I'm
not sure why it costs more than beef since they are being raised on a
ranch. I think all ranched buffalo are grass fed (no supplements).
There are not many buffalo ranches, I think most of them are in the
west/northwest of the US.

LOL The sad thing is we didn't go on any rides. That would have been a
plausible excuse. We were just walking around and about 10 minutes
later... Houston, we have a problem. Urrrph!

Very likely is the same and yoose idjits buy it for double the
price... how DUMB is that... how many times I gotta tell yoose that
the only way to know what/who is in it is to grind it yourself,
otherwise it's 100% pure mystery meat.

I'd not be looking for buffalo, I'd just grind beef and imagine it's
buffalo. I ordered the buffalo stew at a prestigious hotel in
Winnipeg, Canada... I sent it back because it was inedible, the fatty
meat was the texture of musilage and tasted gamey... I've no desire to
dine on buffalo.

I don't want to grind it myself, and am perfectly happy with the ground beef
I buy.

Really? I was unaware of that. Thank you for informing me.

I do have a grinder. I simply don't use a lot of ground meat.
