THat could be. Lack of seasoning definately would be a problem. In my home, Don makes the best pot roast in the oven and mine is second best in a crockpot. Both good and oddly we argue as I like his best and he likes mine best. They are very different in the spicing and what's odd is his is best with a cheat of using canned potatoes (somehow, mysteriously it clicks then). Because of the canned potatoes, his doesnt freeze well if he does that version. -- |

My only problem is that we have a dog who considers his role in life is to be a tripping hazard for burglars. I never know exactly which of his favourite blocking locations to find him in. Sometimes he is in his bed in the corner of our bedroom. Sometimes he is lying halfway across the bedroom door. Sometimes he is lying in front of the bathroom door. Sometimes he uses his teddy bear, which is almost as big as he is, to block the other side of the hall. |

The LEDs we have are the whiter >"daylight" color temperature. Even my outdoor LED fixtures emit much nicer light than the old incandescents, and use 14 watts compared to 100 watt bulbs that didn't last long and needed to climb a ladder to replace bulbs, that always burned out during the coldest part of winter. >In the bathrooms, the over the mirror fixtures have three 60W equivalent >LED bulbs and it is nice and bright in there. I replaced a fixture over the bathroom mirror that used four 60 watt incandescents with a bar type LED that gives better/more light and uses just 9 watts. I used to hate changing bulbs on that old fixture, had to gingerly remove the large glass shade while on a ladder and leaning way over the vanity... was even more difficult repacing that glass shade. LEDs can last 15-20 years, even longer if you remember to shut them off when not in use. Now whenever an incondescent burns out I replace it with an LED... I recently replaced the bulbs on my two garage door openers, each takes two bulbs, those are a pain to replace as well, gotta drive the cars out and set up a ladder, then reverse he process. And how many times I thought to replace those bulbs before pulling the car in, but never remembered until afterwards. I don't really care if people don't want to save money but I liked reducing my electric bill by half and still having light. Electric garage door openers have a white opaque lens over each bulb so light is the same regardless which kind of bulb... besides I don't need mood lighting in my garage. |

The reason they appear harsh to me is that there's no damned spectrum. They emit at a single wavelength. Cindy Hamilton |

They cost substantially less if you buy them in a box of 6 or 8, I get them at Lowe's, they're often on sale. Even though LEDs cost more than incondescents they pay for themselves in two months by using so little electricity, so they actually cost a lot less, in fact in reality they cost nothing because they will last 15-20 years. LEDs offer exceptional savings when used for outdoor lighting, a 14 watt LED flood offers about 50% more light than a 100 watt incandescent. My only recommendation is to have a licensed electrician install LED fixtures as polarity is important. |

Well, maybe by your standards I do but 3bedrooms, 1.5 baths (I do wish I had 2 full ones), living room, 12ftx13ft sunroom, 13ftx44ft screened porch, Laundry room and separate family room with storage room at the back is bigger than many here may have. I have solutions for all but the storage room at the back. -- |

Farm Fresh 95% of the time. 5% at Food Lion, only when they have some good sales. Main reason for my choice is that FF is closest to me (0.8 miles) and it opens earlier than the others. I also know the store setup well and all of the morning employees. That's the only shopping trips that I enjoy. All others are a pain, especially having to wait longer until they open. |

I do have one regular night light in the bathroom area by the vanity/sink which is open to the bedroom. That's for my cat Buffy's benefit. Her litterbox is in the separate area where the tub and toilet are. Sometimes she needs to use it during the night. I like to think it's helpful, even though I'm pretty sure Buffy could find her way without it. ![]() Jill |

Yes, you did say that. But you seem to mention these night lights quite often. One might think you're getting some sort of kickback from Amazon. At one time I was taking a prescription med for that but I stopped. I always felt groggy and the warnings were worse than not sleeping. I take a MidNite tablet occasionally. Melatonin and some herbs, melts right on the tongue. I can usually tell ahead of time when I might have a restless, sleepless night. Mostly I don't need night lights because I don't get up during the night. Sure, I wake up sometimes. I don't get out of bed. That would be one sure way for me to stay awake. I have one low light night light in bathroom area over the sink. Pretty much for my cat. She probably doesn't need it. I sure don't. Jill |

Morning Gary (actually afternoon here). Ah! Ok. FarmFresh is a very decent store, just not as close for me. I never noticed the opening hours but the one I use is 24/7 so not that relevant. Back when I was still active duty, I'd shop at 2am because my shifts had me half night owl. My morning might be 10pm or 2am (sounds wierd but true). Knowing the store well beats out all other concerns IMHO. Learning their sales rotation is cheaper than traveling to multiple locations (burning gas) as frankly, they are all pretty close on deals over time. -- |

My house has a big street lamp right on the front corner. Due to that, I get a modicum of light across the entire front through the windows at night so don't need to add lighting there. I have some pretty good solar lights along the fence and back yard area. Carol -- |

All of a cat's senses are far more acute than that of any dog, their sense of smell and hearing especially... felines are the ultimate hunters, dogs can't really hunt, canines find food by the pack method, they noisily corral the weak and ill. If cats could be trained for tracking, (can't) they'd be far better than any bloodhound. Cats hunt primarily by sound and scent. they can easily hear/smell moles/voles underground. I watch my ferals returning from the barn in the morning for breakfast and suddenly they begin furiously digging, and there they are with a rodent so come for breakfast later. |
