Fer cryin' out loud. I can always go to the store or online in the next
20 years and buy night lights. For now, please allow me my opinion.
Don't need a glaring white LED night light. Or Depends.

You can do the same and allow me my opinion as well. What's wrong with you?

So Jill, usually sleep through the night? Doesn't sound that way.

I said I take it *occasionally*. I also said, "I can usually tell ahead
of time when I might have a restless sleepless night". One thing I
don't do is get out of bed if I wake during the night. That's a sure
way to guarantee I won't be able to go back to sleep.

OB Food: Cheese grits for breakfast. I'm thinking stuffed scallops for
dinner.

hmmmm... no breakfast here ever.

Stuffed scallops? Never heard of those.

I'm 'thinking' about cooking my last
Kansas City strip steak with some fries.

Too soon to decide though.

I discovered them in the freezer case by the fresh seafood counter.

Yes, it's really too early to decide. Just thought I'd try to drag the

LED night lights do not glare, many are no brighter than the pilot
light on a PC power switch, many have an adjustable lens cover to make
them dimmer... and night lights are generally plugged into an outlet
that is some 16 inches above the floor... they are meant to light
where one walks.

I've tried many night lights, I like the ones I cited best, they don't
cover the second outlet on a dual recepticle, I like that they come on
at dusk and go off at dawn, they last for more than 15 years
(incondesent night lite bulbs barely last four months and they ain't
inexpensive) and they always seem to burn out when you have no
replacement... but mostly I like that they use less than 1 watt....
they do NOT glare, they emit a soft glow, not really noticeable unless
you are looking for them... and can easily be dimmed by covering part
of the lens with a piece of tape.

Somewhere along the way I learned not to worry if I was having trouble
sleeping because I figured it only felt like I was not sleeping at all.
I realized I was getting some sleep, and if I really needed more sleep
it would come easier/

Another thing I learned was that if it felt like I had to pee, get up
and pee. It was a problem when I worked midnight shifts. I would get to
bed around 8 am and invariably woke up with a full bladder at noon. I
could lie there and toss and turn until I was wide awake, or I could get
up and have a pee and go back to bed and fall asleep.

I had Shredded Wheat with sliced banana, tea and a slice of whole grain
toast with honey.

That's fine for you since you mostly live alone (except for your occasional **** fests with your married boyfriend). I prefer not to wake up my wife with a lamp when I need to get up at night.

I do have one! Beat me with a wet noodle... it's in the bathroom over
the sink. But it's just a regular night light, obviously what I have is
unacceptable.

Pilot light on a PC power switch? What on earth is he talking about?

I can find it easily, sans night light. But if need be, how difficult
is it to reach over and turn on the lamp next to the bed?

I can find it without putting on my eyeglasses.

I think I just wasn't drinking enough during the day. I've just been super

My night lights are neither white nor glaring. Got a multi pack some years
ago at Costco. They make a rainbow effect.

It's because she doesn't have a night light.

Depends on the house. The house that I grew up in needed no night lights at
the front of the house because there was a street light in the front. House
I lived in, in Richmond Beach was in the woods and very dark. Probably
should have had some but didn't. I was young then and had a good bladder!

I had Carne Deshebrada, beans, rice and pico degallo. I made some other
stuff but that right there was more than enough.

Very true. Not gas for me but just my time. No need to go to
another store just to save a few pennies. And my 2 nearby stores
usually compete in prices.

BTW -
Aren't you sick and tired of all this hot and very humid weather?
I go out about 5am each morning and for the longest time, it's
like walking into a hot steamy bathroom right after someone took
a long hot shower.

Right at 7am this morning I have:
Conditions - Fog
Temp - 75F
Humidity - 96%
Wind Speed - calm
Dewpoint - 74F

Like I said, "a steamy bathroom" environment.
It actually gets better as the temp goes up, the humidity goes
down and most importantly, the wind will start blowing.

Arrghhh. Thankfully I can stay inside for the rest of the day
today.

Holy crap! We might get a day or two a year where the humidity is
uncomfortable but never anything like that!

Try again Steve. They are for finding the unexpected pet as well.

Cash and Daisy-chan see us and at the last second will get out of the
way. Iowna is blind and may not (she's also very elderly and
arthritic). We have various lighting here so we can see *them* and
make sure we step over them.

Belive me, it's not a blaze of light here.

For me, the ones he mentioned are a good pick for a storage area (not a
pet issue). THe actual light switch here isn't near the door (close to
8ft away) but there's an outlet that it can go in right by the door.

Yeah, totally tired of it but it's not been as hot as it can get. This
year has actually been cool comparatively. Damp and muggy.

Hey did you catch the news? The HRBT was shut down (all lanes) because
a dog was loose in there?

Part of the east coast Jet stream effect I think. We generally laugh
when others talk abut humidity.

We actually don't have fog, we have steam that acts like it.

Our cats have blind faith in us. And when we can't see anything or

Ok Steve, then you don;t find a need for lights. Got it. Do you get it
that a few do? Not all but some?

LOL, done that a few times. Don't confuse me on the specific lights
though. I am getting a set for a storage room where the light switch
is out of reach and want light right away with an outlet in the correct
spot for that.

But Sheldon himself posted "they emit too much light for a bedroom". I
have a soft nightlight in the sink area, which is open to the bedroom.
I do think his type of nightlight would be too bright. I was actually
going on his and the product description. And... thankfully, when I
wake up it generally doesn't have a thing to do with needing to go to
the bathroom. I sometimes toss and turn, that's all.

When I lived in surburbia there were street lights and houses were
relatively close together so that their outdoor lights offered
sufficient light indoors at night. Here there are no street lights
and my nearest neighbor is a about 1,000 feet away so his single
outdoor light over his garage door offers zero light to us indoors or
outdoors.

We don't need a nightlight for our bedroom as we sleep with the TV on
all night. However we have a nightlight in each of the two hallways,
one in the main bathroom, and one in the kitchen because the kitchen
acts as a hallway between one side of the house and the other.

With four cats there's no telling where they sleep and their sleeping
spots constantly change. They will sleep in bed but not all night,
they will often sleep sprawled out in hallways, on the bathroom floor,
and Barny prefers sleeping in the main bathroom in the middle of the
floor and being jet black he becomes invisible at night... during the
day he's often asleep in the bathtub. They have various sleeping
spots in the basement too.

It's not much fun walking to the bathroom , kitchen, anywhere at night
and stepping in a wet hairball.

I have enough trouble with the digital display on my clock radio. It has
four levels; three levels of brightness and blank. I usually blank it
out at night.

I sure am the anti-normal night person.

Kitchen light stays on 24/7. That's leftovers from my daughter
living here and staying up all night. It's also a good
security issue as it highlights my back porch sliding door.
No one will go onto my porch at night to break in
without high risk of being seen.

I also keep my bedroom light, tv and fan on all night long.
It's so not normal except for me.

When power goes out and all gets quiet, I wake right up
and can't go back to sleep. I enjoy watching a good
hurricane but the down side is the power loss.

I turn my digital clock face down. Rather, I turn it face
up only when I want to see the time, which in the bedroom
isn't very often.

I'm glad you love those nightlights. You did say they're very bright.

I rarely have to get up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the
night. On the rare occasions I do, I can see perfectly well with a
regular nightlight or just turning on the bedside lamp. I don't have
nightlights all over the house. I never have a reason to walk to the
kitchen or the living room in the middle of the night. I'm also very
fortunate in that even though Buffy (my adopted cat) sheds a lot, she
has never horked up a hairball. I use a Furminator grooming tool to
remove her heavy undercoat. She loves it.

And yes, I know she doesn't need a night light to find her litterbox in
the dark corner of the bathroom. She also doesn't need the pet steps
next to the bed. But she uses them to get up and down.

LOL! I've had an alarm clock radio blinking 12:00 since the last power
outage, who knows how long ago. I don't use it unless I have to be
awake for an appointment. Blink away!
