Default Strawberry shortcake

I pieced together that dessert for several last week.
Not the typical way to make but they were just fine.

Hostess twinkies on sale $2.50 for a box of 10.
Fresh strawberries on sale for $1.25/lb
Vanilla ice cream on sale too but I already had some.

First, I washed and cut up the strawberries.
Put in a container with some sugar stirred in.
As you know, this creates a bit of syrup later.

Anyway, I put 2 twinkies in a bowl, topped them
with some of the strawberries and syrup.
Topped with some vanilla ice cream rather than whipped.

It's good. The sponge cake of the Twinkies is the same
as those sponge cake cups you buy plus they have a
bit of faux cream inside.
The vanilla ice cream was a great topping.
It kept the entire dish cold as I ate.

I will do this combination again someday.

(Sorry, no blurry pic attached)
Use your imagination if you have a decent one. ;-D

Out of that pound of strawberries, I got 4 nice SSC
desserts with 2 twinkies and vanilla ice cream
left over.

Yummy.

When you want to repeat this and there are no fresh
strawberries available check your local grocers freezer
case. The frozen ones usually already have sugar added and
are quite good.

Fresh berries are much too good to waste on TIAD Twinkies.

Oh shut up. If he wants to eat those strawberries over a
Burger King Double Whopper, that's his business.

I love Twinkies. I don't eat them very often, but when I do, I prefer Hostess. Zingers are even better. Chocolate covered Twinkies - now that's just plain disgusting!

I'd prefer you use a sniper rifle on me from a few hundred yards away.
There you go - a reason for you to buy yet another gun and ammo.
