Seems some people have a sense of entitlement. My granddaughter got
married last Saturday. The reception was under a huge tent and typical
round tables. The champagne for the toast was provided by the groom's
grandmother. Near the end of the night she gave me one of the bottles
left over. I had it sitting on the table in front of me. Another guest
came along and just picked it up and started to walk away with it. He
got two steps. It was the end of the night and he was scavenging
anything he could.

Difference is, in real life you don't have to put up with it like you do in
newsgroups if you want to read and post to them. There are many from this
group that would be invited to my house, and some that would be stabbed with
a fork on sight. LOL

There's always at least one of those people in every crowd. Good for you

Sure he can. Just don't go out with the group of friends if he knows
this guy is going to be there.

I started avoiding going out to lunch with a group of woman I considered
friends at work for one reason. One woman was a notoriously demanding
customer and a notoriously bad tipper. She'd run a server off their
feet and then leave a quarter. It was embarrassing.

Wayne knows when these people are getting together. He can always
decline the invitation if he knows the guy who is mooching off
everyone's plate is going to be there.

Have fun storming the castle! What you can do in real life is just
avoid dining with that person. If it's a group thing, I'm pretty sure
he knows if the moocher is going to be there. And he did the right
thing in saying "NO, that's mine!". This guy should not be picking food
off of other plates. That's just weird.

Reminds me of the film portrayal of Helen Keller (Ann Bankroft, Patty
Duke)... I'm guessing this guy isn't a blind and deaf child, though.
Just rude and uncouth.

Don't eat with him or just plain put a stop to it.

You do not know the dynamics of that group at large or who is tight with
whom.

If it's like RFC the side-alliances and bullshit sandbox games may be a
Gordian knot of idiotic human emotional deficits.

I still don't understand why he simply can't say NO!, push his hand
away, and/or move or cover his plate. It's really simple and he
won't or is incapable of correcting the situation. So what if it
****es the rude asshole off? Wayne is ****ed off because he does
this and probably is ****ed off at himself for not putting a stop
to it. Would he tolerate this behavior if a complete stranger in
the restaurant came over to their table and took a bite out of his
plate? Of course not.

Wayne, time to grow a backbone.

That would be my solution, life is too short to mingle with uncouth clods
either outside of your home, or inside of it.

Oh gawd I know that feeling. I wrote here before about a member of the
extended family who treated the waiter assigned to the family as a
personal servant and every time he came back with her order she would
send him for something else and then he left and never came back. When
her mother took us out for supper, the only way you would ever get me
into a restaurant again, she kept changing her order. She initially
ordered fries, then a salad. She got the salad but said she had wanted
the fries as well. A couple minutes later she cancelled the order for
the fries. Then a few minutes later decided she did want them.

It is embarrassing to be at a table with someone like that. You know how
frustrating it must be for the server. The server can't say what they
are thinking. They have to smile and be nice.

Perhaps he enjoys the rest of the group enough that the one person does
not spoil the experience entirely, so long as he is not seated within
reach. There does seem to be a bit of a problem in that the rest of
them don't seem to mind it the way he does.

It's amazing what people will try to get away withh. I was given a nice
bottle of wine for my 23rd birthday by a co-worker. My [then] husband
threw me a birthday party. Some neighbors across the hall, whom I
didn't know except as nodding acquaintances, decided to crash the party.
I walked into the kitchen and found they had opened and were drinking
my birthday bottle of wine. From zero to ****ed off in 30 seconds flat!
Who the hell are you and why are you in my kitchen drinking my bottle
of wine? "OUT OUT OUT!" They fled.

People really don't want to make me angry.
