You watch to many Hollywood soaps... in real life I've not seen many
well to do elderly gents with gals in their 20s... however I've seen

May not start that way but over time that's typically what occurs...
most platonic relationships don't take very long to become intimate.
And nowadays with email and cell phones it's rather easy to advance to
intimate quickly. The more someone tries to convince me that their
relationship with their spouse's friends are platonic the less I
believe them.

We've seen this a lot when old white guys marry young Asian girls. They think they're going to get a free, doting, servant for life but it rarely turns out well for them. Their kids mostly get shafted with any inheritance. My wife's dad was one of these people. OTOH, most everybody got the shaft. My mother-in-law had to escape from an abusive marriage in Korean but she traded it for 7 more or less wild white kids in America. That's tough for an Asian woman from a rich family.

This is Phllipina #2 for Art - #1 died of asthma.

Their kids mostly get shafted with any inheritance. My wife's dad was

I got a lot of that from my calm, reserved, mom. My wife came from a family that was the opposite from my mom. Her mom escaped/exiled from her homeland and placed in an untenable situation in America. My wife's experience closely mirrors this woman's.

Why spouse's friends? I have a couple of female friends and they were
not friends of my wife. One I met at school, another at work. A friend
with one for 50 years, another for 30 years, it does not have to be
intimate.

Dowrys are still common in much of the world... was very common in the
US a hundred years ago.... and dowries were more common where the
women's family pays, especially in Europe.

Exactly... there are far more very wealthy people per capita where I
live than in large urban centers... and most of the wealthy people
here are females, typically into livestock breeding of all kinds and
especially race horses.

People often guess about things they don't know and it can
sometimes turn ugly.

Case in point: It was my daughter's 16th birthday and I
was almost age 42.

I told her to pick a restaurant and I would take her.
She loved Outback Steak House so that's where we
went.

She dressed up nicely in her black dress for the special
meal and we headed off to dinner.

While there, our waitress (maybe age 30 or so), treated
her very well and me not so well at all. Anytime she
talked me, it was with glaring eyes, cold voice, and
a 'Clint Eastwood' grimace on her mouth.

I didn't want to assume things so I ignored it during the
meal but it was the same thing each time she came to
our table to check on us. Nice to daughter and cold
to me.

Finally dinner ended and I asked for the check and also
asked if she would give us a "doggy bag" for the leftover
steaks.

Glaring at me, she asked coldly,
"Will those both be for the SAME house, SIR?"

I was ready for it. I told her: "Yes, she will be sleeping
at my house tonight. She lives with me. She's my daughter
and this is her 16th birthday dinner."

Would have loved a video of that moment. The waitress' eyes
went wide and mouth dropped open. She was stunned.

She immediately apologized to me and said, "I'm a social
worker and I see this all the time." Evidently she sees
older men dating young girls all the time."

I probably could have talked to the manager and gotten a free
dinner and her yelled at - maybe even fired but I didn't want to
mess up daughter's birthday. She wasn't paying attention to this
so I think she missed it.

So I told the waitress that she should never assume things that
she doesn't know about. I paid the bill and even gave her a
decent tip and we left. I just dropped it and hopefully that was
a good life lesson to her. Anybody can screw up once in a certain
situation.

Anyway, daughter had a good birthday. I didn't leave so happy. I
can't blame the restaurant for that but to this day I still have
a bad attitude about the place and I'll never eat there again.

Besides - I make a better steak dinner than they do anyway. I
should have cooked it that night.

That was my one bad restaurant experience.

These days, I don't even care eat at restaurants. When I
sometimes crave restaurant food, I'll order takeout.

Had some good friends come to visit last year and they wanted to
take me to an India restaurant. I talked them into ordering
take-out and it was so much nicer. Rather than sitting at a table
and getting rushed out so they can bring someone else in, we
bought a good variety and sat at my dining room table for about 2
hours and a good leisurely meal.

It's an interesting story. I only halfway believe it. I do believe
older men with young women who look like teens are often suspect. But I
don't believe you'd sit there with the waitress glaring at you and your
daughter throughout the meal without speaking up. Or without your
daughter noticing it. (I do hope you weren't snuggled up next to her
all cozy in a booth. LOL)

I also don't believe the server suddenly announced she's also a Social
Worker. If she had been, she'd have gone quietly in the back and called
her boss and the cops.

It reminds me about the time I cracked a joke and my sister in law
flipped out. We were sitting in a beer garden in Baden Baden, Germany,
and were beside a jewelry store where we could see a very prosperous
looking man with a very attractive young woman. SiL thought they were
lovers and that the man was a sugar daddy and that he was buying her
jewelry. I suggested that she was his daughter and that they were
probably looking for a present for his wife/ her mother.

SiL insisted that he was a sugar daddy and said I might be surprised how
much men would spend to have sex with young girls. My filters slipped
out off and I said that if you get them young enough all it takes is a
Big Mac and an order of fries. She flipped out.

epecially since with those fairy tale type stories there is no way to
prove/disprove what occured. However like yesterday I spent four
hours mowing, and I spent six hours mowing today, and plan to mow
again tomorrow (weather?) and finish up as it's the last mow of the
year. I can easily prove that I mowed for the non believers but ask
me if I give a rat's b-hind. This time I had to mow alone as I lost
my partner while her knees mend.
