I am always astonished by how many recipes that claim to be sourdough based, add commercial yeast. Now, I must say that to use an SD starter well, one should create the dough over 2-3 days, at least. That said, if one adds a good hefty chunk of refreshed SD starter into a commercial yeasted dough as it is built, even if the loaf is going to be the more typical mix, rise, bake in within a few hours, that SD starter will help deepen the flavor of the faster loaf. |

Potatoes, white rice, white bread, fruit juice, oranges, bananas, pasta... No real difference in the way they affect blood sugar. To think that sugar is the only culprit is somewhat specious. |

Agreed, but that is what I meant even if t expressed well. Even meat turns into blood glucose in time. Sugar is a little faster than general carbs from what i read. -- |

Glycemic index has been proven useless. The original study was done on college students who were not diabetics. And it only applies to single foods. Add other things like as in a pie and it all goes out the window. |

She pooh-poohed it immediatedly, after asking for suggestions. Not all the suggestions were intended to be "pies". Here's a suggestion for her: stop stocking the freezer on demand because "someone" in the household decides to go faddish. Smoothies? So she bought lots of frozen fruit. Oh, sorry, not interested anymore. Screw that. The other excuse was it got "cold" outside. As if people never drink anything cold in the winter. Stupidity all around. Jill |

You accuse people of things and when proven wrong, you don't apologise. You make all kinds of absolute statements and when proven wrong, you won't admit you were mistaken. Do that long enough and people will start calling you names. I mean, it's almost as bad as posting ingredients! |
