Default I put FAR TOO MUCH black pepper in my recent batch of "baked beans"!

But it's not entirely bad! Kinda yummy actually!

Cooking "mistakes" are sometimes delicious! :-)

Hard to put too much pepper. Want enough to give it a good amount
of tang and heat. I have a batch on the stove right now simmering
and it tastes YUM.

- 3 16oz cans of pork and beans
- 2 medium onions chopped
- 1 large green pepper chopped
- a bit of brown sugar (maybe 2 TBS or so)
- a little salt and plenty of black pepper

I just tasted it and it's *right*. Just need to simmer a bit to
cook down
the onions and green pepper. I should have used a larger pot,
this one
is almost right up to the rim.

Good side though and this will last for awhile. Even a late night
snack,
just a bit in a cup.

"Sweet Beans" is what they should be called, and I think ARE!

Yes, while "weird" to me, this mistake definitely enlightens me as to the flavor potentials of black peppers! :-)

I love a lot of black pepper and especially in baked beans.

Years ago I had a cookbook from the American Honey Board or perhaps
American Beekeepers Association, at any rate it was a Honey Cookbook and
one of the recipes I tried was: Ranch Beans

As I recall you fried some bacon till somewhat crispy and saute' in the
drippings a diced green pepper, garlic and I believe onion, then add the
saute'ed mixture to the beans of choice, then bake in oven.

Best beans ever! Spicy and sweet, well spicier if you add perhaps some
jalepenos or banana peppers to the saute'ed mixture.

Sincerely,

A. H. Carter

I dumped a 1/4 to 1/3 a bottle off the spice rack: ground black pepper! It drastically darkened the finish beans and it's GOOD! Way different and I love it, but I want my original recipe back, and I can do it! Next time!

Interesting learning experience though!

Can't make that mistake using a peppermill. Yoose like the taste of
the preground because factory ground is minimally 5% mouse turds... I
shit you not... when I inspect my peppercorns prior to grinding I find
all sorts of foreign matter including rodent turds, hairs, insects,
etc... even small stones that will destroy your mill. Next yoose buy
peppercorns place them in a sieve and shake over a sheet of white
paper.

That sounds good. Bacon added to the beans then baked to dry out
sounds like a winner to me. I do like banana peppers and
occasionally put them on pizza.

Speaking of pizzas. I almost bought one at 7-11 on the way home
today at 10:30am. Large pizzas for $5.50 and they are good. Only
reason I didn't was that it was way too early in the day for me
to start eating. It's in my mind now though. I might go back
there in a few hours to buy one. Probably not. Once I've been
home for a few hours, I'm usually too lazy to go back out for
food.

review (Grand Opening weekend, IIRC) as well as writing to corporate
about my experience (Oscar + overcharges). Sprouts has never responded
or offered a refund. They'll probably complain about this review, though.

I have a ripe mango in my fridge right now. Need to eat it
tonight. Unlike you, I won't need to add any other weird chemical
to it.
