17ºF this morning, but Ebenezer is just fine in his heated shelter:

Morning frost:

Ferals here are very well fed and cared for, much better than many of
yoose. They have their heated water bowls and heated canned food
bowls... they love their Fancy Feast w/gravy, and they get their
Purina kitten chow treats too.

that's a handsome cat. I'm sure your ferals reward you by keeping the rodent population down

Ebby is a beauty. I wish we can coach him indoors. Unfortunately he
is very feral.

Total crap brand.

Another total crap supermarket brand.

If you can't afford to feed them anything decent, then so be it, but
it's nothing to be proud of.

Don't you have TV programs or magazines that test and compare stuff
there? Or are they all paid by pet food companies?

No, he's not. You've clearly never seen a feral cat.

The first picture with Ebby looks like there is frost on some parts
of your deck.

(About 31° here this morning.)

Odd how that can happen. Daisy-chan doesn't remotely look like one
would think a feral would, nor does Ebby.

Oh man! Well Mrs.O, you'll really think me a baby then.
Yesterday morning here at 7am, it hit a low of 32F plus
it was quite windy and the windchill was 23F.

Kiss my ass! (25 degrees colder than the morning before).
I walked out just to make a quick trip to my local
mini-mart (only 2 blocks away) and I was freaking out
even though I was dressed quite warmly. Layers of shirts
and my winter coat, gloves, knit hat.
And I was still miserable!

My immediate thought was: No human should have to live
in such an environment. LOL

Anyway, I came right home then locked and deadbolted the
front door, turned on the heat and vowed not to wander
outside for the rest of the day. And I didn't. heh heh

PS - Maybe I *should* have moved to Texas.

Surely even you know UK temps are measured in C.

1C is just under 34 F. No frost.

Sheldon's 17 F is -8C, well below freezing.

When I left the UK in 1971, it had been announced that the UK was going
to transition to use celsius. At first they would use F followed by C
then after a while they would use C followed by F and then C only. Even
on my visit this year, I heard the forecasters give the temperatures in
C followed by F.
Shortly after arriving in Australia, the met people said that as of the
following Monday, they were going to change to C with no transition. We
soon got used to it although they still referred occasionally to 38C as
a "century" temperature.
It's a bit weird watching a US news program where they still use F
whereas we Canadians use C (except for cooking as our ovens are mostly
made in the US).

Yes, it's wierd for me to watch something like The Great British Baking Show
where they use C with the cooking, I dislike it very much. I thought that
you could convert most new ovens to C in the settings, but dunno for sure.

Mostly only the UK and USA where I used F, much prefer C, like other
measurements, metric is more rational.

Got caught yesterday, our mild, unseasonable weather ended around 6 am
when the thermometer plunged from 10C to 0C and by the time I was down
at the Sailors Memorial for 11a.m. with a northerly wind off the sea,
-2C feels like -10C - tough going.

I think all temperatures should be measured in Kelvin degrees!! ABSOLUTE ZERO is ZERO, yano? NO molecular motion! VERY strange and unusual state of being!!

The Fancy Feast simply supplements their regular diet, they hunt for much of their food...

Sure, Consumer Reports in their "Pest Ratings", rated you as an "Ozzie Mozzie", and suggested you be soaked in DDT* so as to prevent you further infesting the human intellectual gene pool...

Sissy! Have you seen the temps and snow up in International Falls,
Minnesota? It was -17F. And that's just the beginning for them. I
had a girlfriend (Kahlua recipe girlfriend) who moved up there to be
with her one true love. I hope she had her love to keep her warm.

Hmmm, I didn't know you lived in MN... I was always of the impression
that you lived in NH.

I used to live in Wisconsin, then Minnesota and then we moved to the
intermountain west.

Well, that's just the same as Celsius, except for where the scale starts.
I doubt anybody wants the freezing point of water to be expressed as
273.

It's a numerically rougher scale.

Consider - 33 deg. C is a HOT day in Canuckland - 91.4 deg. F!

But O deg. C sounds a LOT colder than 32 deg. F.

Fahrenheit is a more expressive way of portraying temperature.

Kelvin would just be whack-o!

https://www.thoughtco.com/chemistry-...-table-4012466

TEMPERATURE CONVERSION TABLE
Kelvin Fahrenheit Celsius Significant Values
373 212 100 boiling point of water at sea level

273 32 0 freezing point of water into ice at sea level

A broader scale but the numbers are just sci-fi high.

Physics does not really care about what people want, it just IS!

You want Reality: carefully examine physics.

You want fantasy and delusions: listen to what people want!

I'll think fondly of you this winter when the wind-chill
is below 0 F and I'm snowblowing the driveway.

It's best when there's a crosswind that blows snow
back in my face.

John the Kelvin scale is completely arbitrary, even if absolute
zero is not. Perhaps we Americans would use the Rankine scale,
instead.

Of course it is factual, no dispute.

My POINT, which you seem to have completely missed despite the clarity
with which I made it is - the numbers are not coherent with what we as
humans are used to on this planet in terms of how we describe
environmental conditions.

It's therefore "sci-fi sounding" in the sheer oddity of the very high
numbers used.

That's it.

Maybe, of course F and C are also very arbitrary in selecting not only a zero point but also a degree size! Hence the 5/9 and 9/5 ion the conversions which is an approximation I think! Makes the math easier and doable even to dolts!

Equally _over_ expressive, imo.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rankine_scale

Some important temperatures relating the Rankine scale to other
temperature scales are shown in the table below.

Kelvin Celsius Fahrenheit Rankine
Absolute zero
(by definition) 0 K ˆ’273.15 °C ˆ’459.67 °F 0 °R
Freezing point of brine
(by definition (on Fahrenheit scale only)) 255.37 K ˆ’17.78 °C 0 °F 459.67 °R
Freezing point of water[5] 273.15 K 0 °C 32 °F 491.67 °R
Triple point of water
(by definition) 273.16 K 0.01 °C 32.018 °F 491.688 °R
Boiling point of water[6] 373.1339 K 99.9839 °C 211.97102 °F 671.64102 °R
