A single 3 oz can of fancy feast typically costs 55¢... almost $3/lb... grilled chicken bits in gravy is not too bad, even looks and smells okay, probably good over rice with a little Dwarf brand hot sauce. However one can do better with people food for $3/lb. Today skinless boneless chicken breasts are going for $1.89/lb Nice looking center cut pork chops are $2.89/lb. Some of the so-called gourmet cat foods run around $5/lb. Thing is most people probably don't calculate the price per pound of those itty bitty cans, and some are like 2.67 ozs per.... buy a half dozen and you're paying as much if not more for aluminum cans. |

Yet you paid at least twice as much as it's worth for an old derelect house that you are spending a mint on to *process* just to make it barely habitable. I believe Kootchie bought a rooming house just so he'll have a bunch of fantasy friends who he'll shortly be letting forego paying the rent so they'll give him facebook likes with one hand and behind his back giving him middle fingers with the other hand. It's good your father is dead or he'd suffer a major coronary watching you blow his life savings. |

Maybe I deleted too many messages but seems she's just making side dishes for the dog? As long as the dog gets a balanced kibble/wet for most of the diet, side noshes are fine. Heck, Iowna (dog) just stole an asparagus spear at lunch time from the crisper when Charlotte was getting something else out. Now she's ignoring her lettuce and pawing at the fridge door but I think she's had enough greens to counteract her tramadol for the day. Hidden at the top where she can't reach it, is a well wrapped endive.... Thats her Thanksgiving treat. -- |

While my almost 16yo pooch has health issues at her age, nutrition gaps isn't even remotely related. She's on a high grade 5 star food based on dogfoodadvisor, with suppilments from her vet that are age appropriate. Iowna gets only 2 regular odd things added, both with vet aproval. She is on tramadol for arthritis which can cause constipation. Leafy raw greens (or grass) adjusts around that. Iowna is a known lettuce snob but it's not like I am serving her a 2 cup salad every day. I put down 1/4 cup and she eats part and my other dog will nibble some. They seem to know how much they want so if the bowl is empty, I add a little more in the evening. Iowna is also a late spay female. Like many, she dribbles a little due to the estrogen changes. She gets 1-2 ts a day of tofu which adds natural plant estrogen and helps a lot there. -- |

We used Metacam (no constipation) for one dog's arthritis and acupuncture for the other. If you can get vet acupuncture I recommend it; it's like watching an instant miracle. > Iowna is also a late spay female. Like many, she dribbles a little due > to the estrogen changes. For the first month she had one a day (in her food); then the dose was reduced to one tab on alternate days then a half tablet on alternate days, was enough to maintain it. Janet UK |

I no longer have them but I have had dog and cat food cookbooks. I have had to cook for some of my own. Misty (dog) lived to the age of 18. The last few years being fed only food that I cooked for her, at the recommendation of the vet. Not much need for cookbooks these days as so much is available on the Internet but I do keep some because I am fond of them. Now if only I were fond of you. But sadly, no. |
