Okay, it's not brand new and it's not the end of the world, but ...
*someone* put the flat beater into the dishwasher. Not good, and I don't know if it can be cleaned of the oxidized aluminum to trust it, so I ordered a new beater. Wish I could get it in stainless but I don't see that option. At least it happened after the Buttermilk Spice Cake was in the oven. New part will be in the house in time for Koko's pecan cookies and my annual almond crescents. nancy |

It would be nice if the parts would go into the dishwasher, you'd think that would be a no brainer. But if you've done that in your life to this kind of aluminum part you learn quickly to know better. Cauliflower gratin is in the oven. Asparagus, grilled. Cake, in the dome. List made so we don't leave the cocktail sauce home again, so annoying. Crackers and Boursin cheese. I'm making the pineapple cream cheese spread at Christmas. nancy |

When I was looking around for a replacement, I saw white coated ones and people commented that they chipped. I didn't know what they were coated with but if I knew it was enamel I might have gone for that. Good luck with yours, if it lasted a long time I imagine it's worth having to replace it occasionally. Did your beater get a lot of use over years? nancy |

I use it to remove the lime from our "Bialetti" coffee-maker (boil the solution in it); it doesn't affect the aluminium. Bye, Sanne. |

The reason I don't trust it is that I learned my lesson on a meat grinder part. I never did manage to clean it enough to make gray color from rubbing off onto the meat so I gave up. Of course, that's different because you can't reach into that part to clean it (which is why it went into the dishwasher!). I will try cleaning this one, then I'll have a spare, but I wasn't going to attempt the white icing using a beater that colors stuff gray. nancy |

no problems. I don't get why someone is worried about one that is white....? N. |

It's just a tiny scuff of wear not a chip or anything. It may still last as long as I do. Janet US |

Amazon sells them as do many other stores. Coating aluminum beaters with nylon makes them far less expensive than producing SS beaters. There's nothing difficult about hand washing a KA flat beater... in fact it can be quickly and safely machine washed along with the bowl while attached to to the KA mixer... then a quick rinse in the kitchen sink. I've always washed my blender by running it with a couple changes of water. |
