Cooked is a 4 part documentary written by Michael Pollan, author of
The Omnivore's Dilemma. He's done other films (TED, In Defense of Food, etc), but this one really gets me. It talks about how bread is made and how the US food industry is actively attempting to eliminate home cooking. It's my opinion this film is a must see fer all true cooks. <http://michaelpollan.com/videos/netflix-documentary-series-cooked/> I saw it on Netflix. Watch it however you can (library, Youtube, etc). ![]() nb |

And if you like that, you will surely want to see: https://dvd.netflix.com/Movie/King-Corn/70080822 The ineffable spread of corn syrup throughout our society is really quite alarming! And you also must see: https://dvd.netflix.com/Movie/Blue-G...47?dsrc=DVDWEB Yes, some politics there of course, but actual _food politics_ not the partisan slime we're sold from the swamp. |

This year's was 11 pounds 10 ounces. These are the hens, a much better value as the meat to bone ratio is higher than toms. You'd be better off with two 12 pounders than one 24 pounder. They also take less time to cook and they'll both fit into the average oven. Also four drumsticks and four wings. And much easier to carve. |

It was a little smaller so there were less leftovers, but they were much better than leftover turkey. |
