I watched most of it. Yes, it was King's Hawaiian rolls. Are you
planning to make "sliders" (small burgers) using Hawaiian sweet rolls?

A suggestion I first heard in that film, "Chef", which was kind of a fun
movie. But, 'brisket sliders on Hawaiian sweet rolls'???? WTF!?

I thought "sliders" were those small greasy burgers from White Castle.
Never had one and never will! OTOH, I've had some sorta Mexican
'torta Cubano'. a Mexican version of a Cuban sammy. To die for!!

I doubt that you'd like them. They are sickly sweet, soft white bread rolls.

A slider is any small burger but they are usually rather flat. The name
comes from being able to slide them into your mouth in one bite. White
Castles are okay but to me not like a regular burger. More like a quick
snack.

One critical difference is in the cooking.

WC uses steam!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KdFedtIfcc

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqcpw8qcVDQ

White Castle was the first hamburger chain, started in 1921. What you
see here is the exact same method they have used since then, completely
safe steam cooking. Yes, the thin burgers are cooked by convection
through the holes in the meat, no need to flip them. That's a mix of
onions and water on the grill-- not grease! The finished burgers are not
greasy at all. White Castle patties are 100% beef, and as such could
probably even be eaten raw with no ill effects. Eating raw sushi
certainly poses thousands times more risk than this. The guy coughing is
with the cameraman, who is watching this activity behind glass at a
White Castle.

I believe that the onions are dehydrated onion that are revived - but I might be wrong.

Typically I can't eat a whole burger but I would like to have a couple of those. We don't have that option on this tiny rock. Beats the heck out of me why we don't have any White Castle on the rock. For breakfast, I had a cup of coffee and a choco pie. You better believe those sliders look good.

Krystal is another chain that sells those tiny burgers. See if there are

They are not here. If they did come to the rock, it would be really big news and everybody would know about it and await its arrival with great anticipation. We're that kind of place. If I don't get a slider soon, I'm going to kill somebody.

I have had those burgers. I think they're just wonderful. I will pick some up the next time I get to Sam's Club. I would have picked up some already but my freezer has a serious lack of space. I'd like to get in there and dump everything!

Not to be negative with your helpful suggestion but those places are a bit too expensive for me. I'm poor. What this rock needs is a burger joint dedicated to the slider concept - cheap and fast! Oh yeah that's the ticket...

My condolences, you fooled me with some of that high end restaurant fare
you posted recently.

I like cheap too.

And fast is great if the quality holds up.

These sound reasonably priced, but of course they're pork not burgers.

Saying I'm poor is probably an insult to poor people. Mostly, I'm cheap. Yesterday we had an assortment of maki sushi with some Okinawan sweet potato mash with coconut milk and ginger. Also an assortment of poke, smoked pork ribs, and fruits. It was a rather colorful spread.

My step mom broke open her caviar in a tube. My son just loves Kalles Kaviar and she promised to pick up a tube for him the next time she can get to an Ikea. It's the most intensely umami food I've ever tasted. For some reason, a lot of folks don't react well to it.

Well I'm no longer desperate because I ate some food. Tonight, we had some meat that was sitting in my refrigerator for the last 35 days. Sliced thin and mixed with some Korean twist peppers. Now I'm calm again.

Yes. They are dehydrated. McD's used to use the same. Not sure if they do
now.

Hehehe. I got that slider pan that Billy Mays used to advertise. Made me
some tiny patties. No tiny buns though. Quickly realized that the pan was
not necessary. Not hard to make tiny patties.

Rehydrated onions are just all right with me. Easy prep and not harsh like fresh onions can be. It also tastes more oniony.

I dry my own onions when I have a lot but the other week, I bought some
dried fried onion. Any idea what I should to with them? Do they need to be
rehydrated?

What I'd like are burgers the size of a walnut. Sell 'em 5 for a dollar. Call 'em nanoslides.

Nowadays they're calling anything served on a tiny bun, a slider.

There's a barbecue place that just opened up here where you can
buy a pulled pork (or brisket, etc.) slider. That's just about
enough for me--I've been meaning to go there. In addition to
the usual barbecue sides (mac & cheese, beans, potato salad)
they have a small tossed salad, which makes the place even more
attractive to me.

Fair enough!

And thinking poor is a great way not to become poor.

Oh brother I resonate with that...

Hey that's a freaking BANQUET spread!

It's a far lighter color than I'd associate with say Russian caviar.

Is it actual sturgeon eggs?

Or some other fish?

Oh yeah.

Sheldon hasn't been nipping at your cooking lately.

Those pics rock.
