I was minding my own business trying to select my items and keep my kids
from running over people with the shopping cart when I gradually became aware of some dude observing me. At first I was like do I know that guy? but then finally he says hi I am from [didn't hear it] company and I am trying to do a survey, and he's showing me some icon on his cell phone. My kids are looking at him pretty suspiciously. He asks if I have time for a couple questions and of course I say no because I'm like that. He says he noticed I have a list and I say yes, I shop with a list. Then he asks if I use flyers or coupons or stuff and I said no, which is false. I didn't lie on purpose, it's just what came out of my mouth. I guess that was the survey. Anyhow watch out, if you are carrying a piece of paper while grocery shopping some stranger might start asking nosy questions. Ob food on this trip I bought the kroger kettle jalapeño chips which are good, a lot like Tim's which are available here in the Pacific NW but I'm not sure where else |

They probably don't realise that what you are doing ![]() |

I rarely see people doing surveys in stores or malls these days. The last time I was approached for a survey was years ago, and the last few times I was lucky enough to be selected for their sample I asked to be paid for my time. They get paid to ask the questions, so I should get paid to answer. |

I'm in the affinity program at the grocery store where I shop weekly. A couple of days ago they sent me (via the U.S. Post Office) a wad of coupons for stuff that I buy every week. I've set my e-mail preferences to "no". It works out beautifully. Every six weeks or so, I get useful coupons. Cindy Hamilton |

If they are tracking me, I don't really care if they know vanilla is my favorite ice cream flavor. They do send me and email every Thursday though, with the latest coupons. I can load them on my card and they are applied automatically at checkout. They often have freebies on new products. Last week I got cream cheese, nutrition bar, yogurt snack. Saved another $5 because I spent $40. As long as they stick with once a week and no third part stuff, I'm ok with it. |

How about when you discover they're distributing all their data about you and your preferences via Blockchain technology to make said data near impossible to erase, available to resources you do no real business with, and not centrally warehoused? |

I know Sobeys tracks my purchases via air miles but OTOH I get an email with special to me offers each week. I like that, saves me clipping coupons etc. I do get a smile here and there, after making that huge quantity of chili just after Xmas, it now offers red kidney beans frequently, which I have never bought since. I prefer it because I don't want all those paper flyers and converting my tailor-made specials to air miles works fine, have my airmiles set to 85% cash miles so I regularly get $10 off my grocery bill. |
