I like "Saved by Soup" by Judith Barrett. Over 100 good recipes, most
very simple and easy.

Of course, you can ignore the several hundred in the "chicken soup"
series. :-0

If your brother likes simple vegetarian soups, there are at least 2 books
written by a brother from a monastery and the word "monastery" is in each
title. They are very good recipes that I use a lot.

These days I tend to choose most of my soup recipes from the web. This is a
cool site. Thanks.

_Twelve Months of Monastery Soups_ by Brother Victor-Antoine
d'Avila-Latourette. Highly recommended. I've posted a few recipes from
the book in recent years - look them up to see if you like them.

James Petersen's Splendid Soups is really terrific. It is not all simple,
but has many easy recipes as well as more advanced ones.

Williams-Sonoma "Soups" is a pretty good soup cookbook. Pretty much
anything I've made from it has been good.

"Splendid Soups" is my recommendation, too. Lots of good ideas, some
more complicated than others. I'm quite keen on Peterson's "Sauces"
as well.

I love the Monastery cookbook! (Cyndi Hackett sent it to me.) There's also
one by Bernard Clayton, Jr. called 'The Complete Book of Soups and Stews'.
