Default Nice day today!

We've been away for 11 days. While it was nice to be away, it is nice
to be sleeping in our own bed again.

Since we were in Florida, we brought back a half bushel of Valencia
oranges. Breakfast consisted of a glass of fresh squeezed OJ, the best
cup of tea in 11 days (coffee for my wife), bacon and eggs.

It is also our 52nd anniversary today. While many people would
celebrate by going out for a nice dinner, we are making ham and cabbage
soup. Nothing says "celebration" like a glass of champagne and cabbage!

We picked out all the options and accessories, colors, counter tops,
etc. for the new house.

Congratulation for the new digs and your 52nd anniversary.
Living retired in Florida you'll need to take up fishing and have a
small yacht... a Boston Whaler is about the best there is for fishing
and cruising about.

Happy Anniversary! Add a little of that freshly squeezed OJ to the
champagne.

Congratulations. We have number 45 coming up in about two weeks. I don't
think I can get away with a dinner at home. I think we are looking at a
nice dinner out. A good friend is celebrating his 45th about about the
same time. Lucky guy has a $300 gift certificate he won at a charity
event and it's for a restaurant I would like to go to except that dinner
could easily run $300 there.

I've always enjoyed hearing Ed speak about cooking for and dining with
his wife. He clearly loves her as much now as ever.

There have been many discussions on RFC over the years involving table
settings and dinnerware. Ed doesn't need a special occasion to use the
"good china". He sets a nice table because a meal with his wife is
always a special time together. That shines through in his posts.

Wonderful! I hope you'll both enjoy it. Do take some pics of it when
you get a chance. It's fun to see pics in progress.

You've been very fortunate, it's not easy to find a new spouse, for
women and men. I think it's more difficult for men because it's
primarily the women who gets to accept/reject a date... men get
rejected far more than women. Every day is not perfect but I feel we
are both very fortunate to have stayed together for nearly 27 years. I
think the secret is to bend like a reed in a wind storm. We both
agree that the most difficult challenge is to deal with the children
from another's previous marriage. Children from previous marriages
regardless their age can be extremely selfish, graspy, and mean
spirited.

Actually, widowers are prime pieces of meat in the used spouse market. When my mom died, he was getting chased by several women. He was afraid to answer the phone. It was pretty funny.

No kidding there, my friend. When I got divorced....a nice guy
with a little daughter was so much a "chick magnet." I actually
ran from women more often than I chased women.

Now, I'm old and worthless and I don't care but I had fun times.
When I die, just chisel a smiley face on my headstone. heheh

When mom died dad was the hottest catch at the senior center, but at
75 he was not about to get hitched again, so he sampled many of the
women instead... he even sampled some of those old biddy's single
daughters.
Older women who are self sufficient aren't looking to remarry either.
