Default Oops.... Ouch

I will confess to having done something dumb last night so that others
might not repeat it with the same painful results. I was preheating
the gas BBQ to cook Tandoori chicken. It needed to be really hot. I
went over to check and noticed a set of metal tongs sitting with one arm
right next to the BBQ. I figured it would be hot, so I grabbed the
opposite arm and moved it away so it would not be exposed to the heat
and to allow it to cool off.

The arm that I had touched to move it away was not particularly hot and
I assumed that the tongs would cool of quickly and I did not need them
for a few minutes. Lots of time to cool?.... Apparently not. When the
grill was hot enough for the chicken I reached over and grabbed the
tongs. Wow... had I ever underestimated how hot they had got and how
long it would take to cool. Burns on two fingers and a thumb.

My dad and his boss were once at some kind of company dinner and there was a candle in front of the boss, he said that almost looks real stuck his finger in the flame.
