Default Today's harvest

Three beautiful Anaheim peppers , about 6" long . We'll be having a
Fiesta Night here right soon , they'll be stuffed with something besides
cheese , probably a meat mixture of some kind and served with a red
sauce . Maybe some refritos and tacos to go with ...

Monteray Jack is the spineless white cheese of those few American dairy
farmers still left holding the "bag". IOW, I wouldn't use MJ on my food
at gun-point! On the good side, I bet Trump loves it.

I bet the best chile rellenos I ever ate were filled with MJ cheese. It
was the sauce that made 'em (and the lard they were cooked in!).

Â* Thank you - and those are just the beginning . Both plants have
several more growing , and it's not obvious from the pictures but
everything out there is loaded . It's going to be a busy summer putting
all that stuff up .

I wish I had kept the recipe for stuffed Anaheims. I got it online but it's
no longer there. They were were raw and had a yummy filling but just can't
remember what all. I know there were jalapenos and some kind of shredded
cheese but there was something to hold them all together.

I don't much care for it. I'll buy it mixed with other stuff if I get a
really good price but there are so many better things.

I don't actually like cheese, but it's a quick and convenient source of
protein. I eat Monterey Jack pretty frequently, in quesadillas.

Your link worked well, Terry. Nice healthy looking garden and I
love the "deep forest" look behind your garden. If you don't own
that back property, would be nice to buy it so no one else ever
does and invades your privacy.

Â* Gary , we own the 12 Acre Wood (and everything on it) free and clear
.. That deep forest is what all but the clearing we live in looks like -
except for the power line easements , they have a 50 foot wide swath
clear cut . We've never counted , but I estimate we have between 8,000
and 12,000 trees on the 12 acres we own . And no plans to cut it all
down , much to some people's chagrin . We harvest weak , sick , and dead
trees to heat our house - and that contributes to the overall health of
the woods .

It's not that I hate it. It's just that I'd rather eat
any number of other things. But when I need a quick lunch,
I melt some cheese on a tortilla, or make a grilled cheese
sandwich or something. (My husband, on the other hand,
loves cheese and thinks it makes practically any food better.)

I'm with you Cindy. I don't dislike cheese, but I don't eat a lot of it.
There are lots of things I would rather have. My wife, OTOH views cheese
as one of the major food groups.

Aye , and more's the pity ! Here in the USA each state has an
agricultural college that has an extension program to assist farmers
(and others) with any ag type problems . Each county has an agent that's
paid by the gov't to assist people . The soil tests they did and the
soil amendment recommendations they made have turned this into one of
the best gardening years I've ever had ...

Â* They don't really realize it's a fence . They just know if they come
too close it HURTS . Works for bears too ... when I first installed the
'lectric fence around the bee yard (It's in the corner of the garden ,
didn't get any photos of it) I baited it with bacon strips . Figured
bears love bacon , if one came back - this was precipitated by a bear
raid on my bee yard - he'd go for the bacon first and get a big surprise
.. I don't know if the bear came back but I know my hives haven't been
bothered again .

I din't realize that was an electric fence. A lot of people around
here have electric fencing but for keeping live stock in. I've not
seen anyone with electric fencing for a vegetable garden. Vegetable
gardens are small enough that wire fencing is affordable.
Our 50' X 50' vegetable garden is fenced with 6' turkey wire... it's
actually nearly 7' high as it sits atop real RR ties.
https://postimg.cc/image/9t07b344t/
I installed netting to protect the blueberry bushes and strawberries
from birds, the netting worked but I didn't take it down after the
growing season... it all came down with the first snow.
