grilled braunschweiger? Never heard of that although my mother did
put liverwurst rings in the oven in a shallow pan -- it was good that
way. But in my experience liverwurst isn't as 'sweet?' tasting as
braunschweiger. So I don't know how I would feel about grilled
braunschweiger. I'll give it a try next time I have some in the house
-- couldn't hurt.

I made that mistake once. I like grilled sandwiches, but what is good
for ham or roast beef turns liverwurst into liver.

Think about it, Jill. What is "windchill"?

Same effect fer heat. Think how a covection oven works.

"Perceived" temperatute is what matters. The real temperature be
damned.

"Windchill" is not a word you'd ever hear used in a weather forecast
this far southeast. Sorry, folks, but 98 degrees is friggin hot and my
body can't take it.

Think about it, nb. What is "heat index"? A cold front moved through
so it's only 93F today. The heat index is 100. All I know is it's too
damn hot to be cooking outside.

You're right. CNN reports there were 63,000 opioid deaths in the US in
2016, compared to 37,000 traffic fatalities that same year. Opioid
fatalities are climbing rapidly.

Probably the reason the US refuses to adopt Metric (Celsius)??

Got me. Never heard of it. Actually, I've heard the term, but have
zero idea what it means.

Hot, here, also. Breakin' records! Before CA turned into a charcoal
briquet, CO was the 2nd worst fer drought. That was about 4-5 yrs ago.

It is a similar type of issue. We tend to pay a lot of attention to the
wind chill factor in winter because it can make a huge difference in how
cold it seems. I live in an area where winter temperatures hover around
the freezing point. It seems to much worse of the humidity is high or if
it is windy.

Summers around here are quite damp and we consider it to be a heat wave
when it hits the mid 80s. When I was in California a couple years ago it
was rarely under 90, but it was quite pleasant compared to here. When I
was in King Ciy and Soledad it was 111F, and even that felt better than
90 at home.

Drought is not a good thing. I feel for the people and the farmers,
water rationing and all that.

This time of year in southern SC there is generally a brief cloudburst
nearly every day, late afternoons. Sunday night we had a rockin'
thunderstorm that started around midnight. It lulled me right to sleep!
I love a good thunderstorm. But all that rain just makes it more
humid when the sun comes up. That's where the "heat index" comes in. Heh.

I really don't know why anyone is questioning my choice not to grill
outside when it's hot. It's purely a matter of personal comfort. My
food tastes just as good when cooked inside as it does outside.

In my case, it is likely the inexperience with such stinking high heat
and humidity. We move our cooking outside in the summer, and the hotter
it is the more likely we are to cook on the patio. Bear in mind, we
consider mid 80s to be very hot. High 90s is thankfully very rare.

We were competing with Boeing for the SST but in the end the French
beat us both. There was a major lay off of all aero workers. I took
a job driving for Yellow Cab, however I thought I knew my way around
LA but no one lived on the freeway.. I got fares lost a lot.
So I came back to NY. At least I didn't blow all the money from
Lockheed and bought a nice house on Long Island.

Location, location, location. LOL

It should be obvious we don't all have the same weather or the same
tolerance for heat or cold. My neighbor keeps her thermostat set at
80F. I can't stand to be in her house for more than a few minutes even
with her ceiling fans running. It's not *comfortable*.

I doubt outdoor temps in the 90's where you live would feel anything
like it does down here. It might even be comfortable to me without the
humidity.

In high school I had a job at a small branch of the NYC public library.
No air conditioning. That's the only time heat index came into play
for me, if the temp and humidity combined to a certain heat index,
they went to skeleton staff and some of us could go home, paid.

I never understood the point in making such a large sandwich. Please tell
me that people don't put them in their mouths to take a bite?? I always

You would if you lived someplace where 50% relative humidity was considered a

Looks and sounds nice. Only change I would make would be add some
salty chips on the side and forget the olives and peperoncini.

It sounds like something that Guy Fieri would like to try to shove into
his mouth. My gawd it grosses me out to see him trying to unhinge his
jaw to cram a huge sandwich into his mouth.

Cheri claims that, not me. She just doesn't want to stand alone.
Cheri is the one that joins in all the reindeer games with her
snide comments whenever she decides some female here needs a
little backup.

That said, she's also jumped in to defend me occasionally. Go
figure. Basically, Cheri defends the downtrodden no matter the
gender. Cheri is cool enough in my book.

You can dress for windchill but not for heat index. It's the
worst of the weather, imo...and I have to work in it some days. I
can often work all day and come home with soaking wet clothes
just like I was sprayed with a hose but it's all sweat. We all
do what we have to do though and what doesn't kill you will make
you stronger.

I keep trying to convince myself that's true. heheh ;-O

NO. You smash them down, cut in half, and using two hands, enjoy
them.

Now there's a job that I envy. Guy travels around eating all the
best food and gets paid well for doing so. I can even forgive him
for that spiky bleached hairdo.

You can undress for heat index. Cotton T shirt and shorts.

I cannot imagine having a job where nice dress is mandatory and no AC.

You, Gary, go through these nasty stages about every 3 months or so probably
to get a reaction from the women, I don't want to disappoint. Have a great
day.

That sandwich is really not that large; it's a close up picture.
Most likely a bit of smashing would be done before heading to his
pie hole.

The spiky bleached hairdo is one thing, but I never did get the wearing
sunglasses backwards thing. If he has to unhinge his jaws to get
something into his mouth perhaps he should try wrapping his body around
it and squeezing it first.

About 40 years ago when I went out to Winnipeg to look for work it was
-40 for most of my visit. That's bloody cold. Someone told me that you
just have to learn to dress for it. I looked out the window and asked
"Like them?". They guy looked out the window and asked "Like who?".
That was my point. There was no one outside. Even on the coldest days
here I see people out for walks and even some bicyclists.

I have combination temperature humidity gauges in three rooms' plus I
have an outdoor weather station. The remote for my outdoor weather
gauge says temperature outside is 75ºF and humidity outside is 76%,
It's been raining on and off since yesterday. Here in my office the
temperature is 73ºF and the humidity is 57%. Works well and
inexpensive:

I recently got this for my tractor, and no batteries, I love it:
https://www.amazon.com/MaxiAids-Low-...D6BAH3KQ1F5XCA
I placed it on the upper right side of the windshield where the wiper
can't hit it. The numbers are large and it's easy to read, plus since
it's as clear as the windshield it doesn't obscure my vision. This
also needs no battery. Since I'm in an air conditioned cab I like to
know the outside temperature. When I began mowing at 9 AM it was 68ºF
outside, by noon it was 96ºF outside. I finished mowing at 5 PM.

You've been living in Connecticut. Wait until next summer when
you
are in Florida. You idea doesn't help here many days. It's even
worse where Jill lives. And will be even worse still next
July-August when you live in Florida.

Be thankful you never had to work in such conditions. Many
blue-collar workers have to do just that. No customers want nude
workers on their houses.

Seriously, on these many hot and humid days even work shoes and
shorts only doesn't help.

I'll bet you that next summer (in Florida) you will gladly pay a
yard guy to cut your grass once a week or so. Even walking out
your front door at 6am will feel like walking into a steamy
bathroom.

I generally pick on those that pick on others here. No one so far
has picked up on that. I don't care though. RFC has many mean
ppl. No matter what anyone says, many others gang up on them.

Perhaps I'll settle down someday once I get another little
friend. Meanwhile, many of you are still very cruel to others.
John K. lately for example. I'm just playing my part. Just as you
do.
