Has nothing to do with acting superior... as I've said I never heard
of those shows. And truth is I watch very little TV these days... I
can flip through a hundred cable channels and find nothing I'm
interested in watching... other than the news I'll sometimes watch
Judge Judy and a couple others of that ilk. I used to be a big boxing
fan but there aren't any worthwhile boxers anymore, and without Howard
Coswswel boxing will never be the same again. I'll sometimes watch
NatGeo but lately I find they ruin it with too much chatter. And just
about every day I'll tune in to The Weather Channel.

During periods of warm weather I have too much to do outdoors to watch
TV shows. Right now it's too hot to work outdoors, but I did spend
two half days removing the turkey wire fences from around my two Dawn
Redwood trees, they are tall enough to be safe from hungry deer... was
damn hot out and within five minutes I was soaking. The weeds grew
inside the fence and into the fance so thickly that I needed to use
the tractor and tow web/strap to yank the fencing loose, going all
around bit by bit I had to work a small amount loose at a time. There
were even several tree seedlings I had to dig out, can't just lop them
off at ground level or they'll present a flat tire risk.

After finishing on the second day I earned two cold brewskies... was
88.5ºF out there and humid. Today I'm staying in with the A/C, it's
93ºF out there now but a little less humid, only 65%. I've been
checking the outside cat's water bowls and topping them off. In a
couple hours I'll drive into town and do some grocery shopping and
check the PO Box... that section is open 24/7 but no one is there
today for any services,

The attraction for the production company is that it's a cheap way to churn out material that they can sell. The attraction for the audience is that they want what they see on the screen to be real life. It's not because real life doesn't often make for a compelling, sell-able, product.

The very worst thing about driving my mother or my husband to a
doctor or dentist appointment is the daytime tv in the waiting room.

Exactly! I love Antiques Roadshow. Everyone thinks they have something
worth a lot of money. Many times not. But sometimes... a find! It's
not about buying and selling or a pawn shop environment. It's a fun
venue for fun objects and actual appraisals. And there are many
different categories in every episode.

Well... I didn't follow Pawn Stars characters closely enough know
anything about any of that. Wow.

I do prefer the Antiques Roadshow. Where no one is a specific showman,
not even the guy who introduces the show (Mark Walburg?) and shows us a
few historical things in whatever town they're set up in.

It's not a "reality show". There is a big difference. Even the old
Pawn Stars have to call in "experts" sometimes. Heh.

The people who get on the Antiques Roadshow are people who are hoping to
get appraisals for things they think are either valuable family
heirlooms or something they picked up at a yard sale. It's fun! PBS,
where I live it's on Monday at 8PM.

Most people don't go to pawn shops to sell stuff. They go to get a short-term loan using their stuff as collateral. I went to a pawn shop with a friend to get his guitar out of hock. The shop guy wanted the guitar for himself and was being non-professional about it so I paid the fee. I got the guitar instead. Ha ha. I must be a bad person.

I liked seeing the items even if I didn't believe someone just happened
to walk in with them, it's a TV show. But they were adding more and
more fake drama that just got to be too much.

I can say the same about a lot of those shows, I know they're not
reality but there's something I find amusing until they start going
overboard.

Right, some do have value beyond entertainment but then they can go to
far. I watched Swamp People and found in interesting how the hunting
was done, but after you see it a few times, how many ways can you catch
an alligator and make it interesting.

I do still watch Josh Gates. He does show many different locations
around the world. Even better when Erin Ryder is with him. (she's
hot!) You get to see some of the customs of the country as well as
specific locations. I think he is kind of a neat guy too, with a sense
of humor.

I would watch Josh Gates read the phone book. I've been a huge fan
since the Destination Truth days. He really cracks me up and the
places he goes, amazing.

Â* Usually within 15 minutes of the wife (FYS) leaving for work I will
kick the TV input over to PC and select a music mix on Youtube . Country
some days , rock some days , and sometimes I fire up the Windoze Media
Player and punch the "play all" button . Takes a while to cue up over
12,000 songs . And even longer to play them all . And sometimes , if I'm
feeling loud , I'll cue up a playlist on the comp that's hooked to my
big stereo system . Won't shatter the windows but it will sure 'nuff
rattle things .

For reality entertainment nothing will ever top All In The Family.
only show close was the Honeymooners. These days all TV is totally
useless. With all the streaming crap TV will soon become obsolete. I
don't go to the movies anymore either, the last time was to see
Sofie's Choice and I didn't think it had any redeeming value nor was
it entertaining, it was strictly political... I'd much rather watch
The Cisco Kid reruns... Hey Cisco!, Hey Poncho! My all time favorite
was The Magic Cottage, I had a huge crush on Pat Meikle.

I must say that I'm impressed that you actually put spaces between your wall

It beats all the medical stuff that is on in the waiting rooms I'm at,
usually big pharma hawking some kind of drug to ask your doctor about.

Naturally young breasts are better, firmer/plumper.... young teen
agers have the best breasts... but now all I can do is reminisce, odds
are I'll never suckle at a fifteen year old's bosom again but at least
I have fond memories.
There's nothing negative about living in the past, those young years
were the best times of everyone's life. I really miss being a 20 year
old destroyer man. And at twenty years old I could enjoy deflowering
3-4 maidens in one night... one was a young Nun in the Vatican on
Easter Sunday, right next to the Three Coins in the Fountain. Was so
jammed with people no one could notice.
I was very gentle and she thanked me profusely in Spanish, I never
did get her name but I'm hoping that beauty quit the church and
had a good pregnancy. Truth is she chose me, she said I was the
strongest looking man she had ever seen. Fact is navy cook is the
most physically demanding job, at that time I was stronger than the
Hulk. I'm still a lot stronger than men my age. I bet I can still
traverse a ladder up three decks in rough seas with a hundred pound
crate of spuds. No matter how bad the weather I still had to feed the
crew and I always did.... most were unable to eat... pucking
uncontrollably. Those were the mornings I cooked the sausage and
bacon extra greasy. I don't know why but I never got seasick.

I've never seen a 60 year old breast that is better than a 20 to 25 year
old breast. Have you?

But when you live in the past, like he does, everything was better.
Time has moved on, but he's still in 1970.

I will be the first to say that there are a whole lot of things that have
improved since those days, others not so much. How anyone could say that
Sophie's Choice was strictly political is beyond me.

My doctor's waiting room TV has cooking but hosted by furiners I can
barely understand, usually Asians... last time some no-name gook made
fly lice... looked fine until he garnished it with those red skinned
Spanish peanuts what used to be sold everywhere in NYC from those
glass gold fish bowl vending machines a penny a handful.

Yeah, we're starting to get that way about Alaska the Last Frontier.
Every hangnail jeapordizes the entire family's wellbeing. Didn't
get that last bear or buck for the freezer? Take some of the money
you're getting to be on the show and buy some damned meat.

Depends whose... some 60 year old women are in better shape than 20
year old women. My wife is 70 and is in better shape than 20 year old
couch potatoes.

Just be glad you still have them to drive! However I do agree, the
one place I find that is the car dealership when I take the car twice
a year to have snows put on or removed. Not too bad if someone has
switched it over to a new channel, but sports drives me crazy.
Thankfully haven't come across a doctor or dentist with tv in the
waiting room.
