It's for people like Gary that the industry adds a bit of sugar and/or fat to everything. It appeals to the young palate. The genuine product tastes too mature and needs a bit of sweetener. Oh and colorants. It needs to look extra pretty. |

Jif etal removes the natural peanut oil and replace it with cheapo salad oil... they can sell the natural peanut oil for three times the price of cheapo salad oil. And don't kid yourselves, the natural PBs also remove a goodly potion of the natural peanut oil and replace it with cheapo salad oil. It's very easy to make ones own PB from whole roasted peanuts of their choice... why settle for mystery PB? I know Jif etal is faster/easier but who needs all that extra protein from insect parts and who knows what. Nut butter is one of the few things a food processor does well. |

Jif et al., replaces the peanut oil with a hydrogenated oil like cotton seed and others. This stabilizes the product and improves its shelf life. No stirring needed! The peanut oil is then sold to the Chinese. ![]() |
