That helps to explain the trade wars that the Trumpster is starting. He
has taken aim at our supply management system that stabilizes
production and keeps prices steady. There is a high tariff on imported
dairy products which prevents the US from dumping its surplus on us. The
US complains that the higher prices our farmers get is a form a subsidy,
but at the same time the US is paying $20 billion in subsidies to
farmers and encouraging them to over produce.

It's well known that U.S. ag subsidies are irrational. Yet, in D.C.,
money talks. A little grease to a Congressman, and you're immune
to market forces. The most well known is corn.

And it's one of many red states with a lot of agriculture. I am sure
they would be made as hell of the feds stopped subsidizing their
business, and that they likely see nothing wrong with Trump pushing for
us to reduce the tariffs we have to prevent them from dumping their
subsidized products in our market. Heaven forbid they look at our
system and see how we can keep farming viable without spending billions
on subsidies.

China had already refused shipments of US soybeans.

Trade wars don't benefit anyone.

corn, oats and pork should vote early then
P.S. I didn't intend this to be a political post. Just pointing out
that cheese should be cheaper in the coming months.

there were more articles in the news today that elaborated further on
the tariff issue.. It'll be interesting who(what entity) has either
enough campaign donation $ or clout to get a waiver on their
particular tariff hurt. That's what it will come down to, who kisses
the ring best.

That was some good cheese, it was when DE was president and I was in grade
school once in awhile they would send government cheese and crackers to the
school. That was a real treat.

I liked that old guy. Now give me my God-damn cheese! You're not going to be getting cheddar and and it's not going to be 4 lbs. You're going to get 5 lbs of yellow cheese-like material and you're going to be grateful for it too! You just better be there when that truck comes to pass this stuff out - you snooze, you lose!

Locusts are not a famine. They are a gift from God. You eat them.
(Anyone know where that came from?)
I grew up being told that the moon was made of green cheese, not
yellow cheese-like material.

Humans have eaten bugs since before they were human.

The "locust" that John the Baptist ate was likely carob.

My quote was from the movie, Hidalgo (2004).
It's a good movie. Be sure to pay attention and watch it all.

A wolverine is a ferret's largest cousin. They are friendly

I've seen the movie a few times. I don't find it as quotable as,
say, The Princess Bride.

I think I'm remembering a later time... Reagan. It was processed blocks
of cheese (like Velveeta). It made excellent mac and cheese.

Nope, they are swarming insects. I doubt "drude/bruce/droocie" gives a
rip about what happens when bugs swarm. He's probably never encountered
a locust. Grasshoppers. Or famine. Neither have I. This is not the
1930's or 'The Grapes of Wrath'.

No thanks.

Ancient tribal people who couldn't find anything else to eat. I'm sure
they'd prefer a roasted guinea pig with some roasted vegetables to
eating locusts. It would not involve fake cheese.

It's all a fairy tale.

LOL I will continue to eat and enjoy cheeseburgers. With actual
cheese. And bacon. And butter on the bread. Oh dear. How that must
upset him!

I do not think that means what you think it means.

I recall that time. Never got any of the cheese, no doubt cuz my mom
actually had a full time job that paid too well.

I noticed cheese was getting crappy after I used to buy Tillamook cheese
cut from full-sized rounds. After that, CA cheese became a joke. The
advertisers lied like a rug --"contented cows" my ass! Govt cheese was
probably better.

Yes, you're a lot younger than me so I'm fairly sure it was Reagan for you.

Your circumstance didn't matter, it was surplus cheese that went to the
schools when I was a kid.

I love cheese but not so much mac and cheese. I only eat it a few times
year. I much prefer cheese cubes in a salad, nachos, a toasted cheese and
vegetable salad or even just a chunk of cheese.
