Default Duke, the Bushes Baked Bean Dog

I just read one of the dogs that portrays Duke in the Bushes
Baked Beans commercial died last week. He was one of many
dogs in the commercials and lived in Florida and was euthanized
last week due to an aggressive cancer.

I will eat some baked beans in his memory tomorrow.

They're not bad if you're the only one eating them and don't want to
burn yourself out on baked beans. Easily doctored up if you want to
add more spice or something else.

I always loved "doctoring up" canned baked beans and finally just decided to give up on the substandard baked beans base I was BUYING and just make my own!

Which I am not gonna get some for my breakfast! And I bought a new $1 plastic container of Cayenne Pepper! I chop up ham, then sprinkle Cayenne Pepper on it, then cooked brown rice and MY Baked Beans! BRB!! :-)

And GOT 'EM!! :-)

YUMO!!! Yep, the Cayenne Pepper was missing! I put some IN the beans when I'm cooking them and then sprinkle some on the ham while preparing my breakfasts and YESSSSSSS!!! New Cayenne Pepper is pretty spicy so I have to be careful with it!

I LOVE the El Dente-ness of the beans!! BITE TO THEM! NOT MUSHY!!

I'm not an al dente bean person and that goes for potatoes as well.
I want both to be creamy on the inside. But if you like them, then
all is well and good.

There were many dogs that played Lassie, and all of them were male dogs.

I CAN go either way. I mean, refried beans are basically bean mush, right?

To my mouthfeel, el dente "feels" like fresher!

Yep, and that white blaze down their face is not a desirable trait but
Lassie always had one. So the ones you'll see on TV portraying him will
always have a white blaze.

Bush's beans has so many flavors there's really no reason to doctor
them.
https://www.bushbeans.com/en_US/products

Mostly we buy plain canned beans and like to marinate them as a multi
bean salad.

I no longer bother with dried beans, canned are ready when you are,
they're perfectly cooked, and if you buy the larger cans they cost
less than dried. I think considering the long cooking time, having to
pay close attention, and the cost of cooking fuel dried beans are a
waste of money. Even big bean eaters like large Hispanic families buy
beans in #10 cans rather than 50 pound sacks of dried.

That half ounce was product manufacturing shrinkage, Notice most coffee comes today in 12 ounce packages, NOT 16oz LBS!!

Bush probably USED to make and sell 18oz cans, but they snuck it down on ya!

Saves THEM tons!

I know about standard size cans... over the years I posted this web
site a few times:
http://www.cancentral.com/beverage-cans/standards

For many years a can of any kind/brand of beans was 16 oz/1 pound....
canneries adjusted by fine tuning the amount of liquid. Of late the
standard sized can began to be labeled at 15 ounces, and naturally
sold for a higher price too... the same can but with less product.
This is the first time I noticed Bush's beans at 16.5 ounces. Because
cans/packages are never filled to capacity the product quantity can be
adjusted up or down. A lot of dry food products, like cereals, will
say on the package that the product may appear to be less due to
settling. Beans being produce perhaps the recent growing season
yielded smaller beans, ergo the can can be more solidly packed
therefore they needed to adjust the weight and price upward... better
than leaving a larger empty space, and most people realize that beans
don't settle like flackie wackies,
