Default Speaking of Grilling...

I ran across this old pic of my parents cooking outdoors and it made me
smile. This appears to have been taken in the 1950's but I couldn't
swear to it. Looks like they're grilling a few puny chicken leg quarters:

What, no vegetables? There's a lot of wasted space on that grill. But
look at Dad wielding a fork! LOL

Great pic, I love seeing old pics like that, your folks made a really cute
couple.

The photograph has those scalloped edges which were common in Kodak
prints from the 50's. That's about the only way to date this. That and
I didn't see either of my brothers as babes or toddlers in the pic so
maybe they weren't born yet, either. That would put it around 1951 or
52.

I do resemble my mother, much more now that I'm older. None of us kids
really look very much like either parent.

I like the outfit Mom was wearing. Looks cool and comfortable!

As for the chicken, meh. I hope that's not all they had to eat.

They were cute. Cooking on the grill. I have albums filled with old
family pics. This one just happens to be cooking and food related.

I loved the outfit she was wearing. She looked so cool and comfortable.
Slightly wrinkled, sure. Cotton or linen. It looks white but could
have been any pastel shade. That's the fun thing about old B&W pics...
you have to guess.

I'd wear something like that. Hmmm, I think I have.

Great picture!!

I don't recall e-v-e-r seeing anyone grilling any type of vegetable
when they were doing burgers, hotdogs, or chicken when I was a child.

Isn't it traditional for the woman to cook the boring vegetable stuff
in the kitchen while the man does the heroic meat stuff outside on the
BBQ?

I dunno. I do know a lot of men who are clueless about how to cook on a
grill. So grilling is not exactly a manly activity for some.

If it was my in-laws, there would be aluminum foil on that grill to cook
on.

Grilling is done over hot coals. Put a layer of foil and you are just
frying like in a pan on the stove. Why bother?

Maybe someone else was waiting for the food. Someone was taking the
picture so they weren't alone.
