Baked crab cakes
Tiny colourful potatoes (fun, thanks to Ed), parboiled then lightly
oiled and browned in the oven next to the crab cakes
Steamed lightly buttered broccoli florets on the side

sounds wonderful. I'm doing chicken on the grill with fresh green beans, fresh zucchini on the grill, and a cauliflower mash. This is the recipe for the chicken, the methodology really works and you can change up the spice/herb ingredients in the marinade.

Mexicanish rice here and a tossed salad. Starting to get tomatoes like
crazy!

We had take out chicken from the supermarket, S-Mart actually makes decent
fried chicken to go, potato wedges and salad. For dessert we had a small
slice of olive oil cake.

Sounds good. For us it was tossed salad with creamy balsamic dressing,
grilled New York strip, and salt-boiled potatoes. A nice, quick,
weeknight dinner.

I drizzled them with oil but didn't smash them.

I like sloppy joes... I really should make them again some time!

I'd love a nice grilled strip! I haven't had a chance to do any
grilling in the past month. It's been raining nearly every afternoon
for what seems like weeks. In fact, it's raining again right now. It's
typical weather for this semi-tropical area in the Summer but it makes
grilling difficult.

I haven't had them in a long, long time, maybe 40 years. Maybe it is
time to make some retro food.

Of course there are many ways to use the filling. I was never a fan of
bell peppers so stuffed peppers wouldn't appeal to me. <shrug>
