No, you're not. He wants to have lunch alone.

Sometimes it is good to get away from them. For the last 12 years of
working though, I ate lunch with one person most every day, sometimes
with a third but she did not work every day. Both retired, we still
have lunch on occasion.

I've had your dinner, Jill. Cajuns might like that but not me.
Knowing what a low opinion of McD's that you have, I guess it
upsets you that some might choose that "inferior" food over what
you cooked.

Part of mine fell over last week. It is annoying to have to stack it all
over again.

Well gee, all you had to say was you'd tried RB&R in the past and didn't
like it. No biggie.

I don't actually care if you like McD's, by the way. Lots of people do
or they wouldn't still be in business. One thing I've noticed lately is
advertising saying they now have fresh (never not frozen) burgers cooked
to order. It took them a long time to figure that one out. Has the
price gone up?

Yeah, it seems to me that's the only one they're advertising as fresh,
never frozen. I hear these ads in the background but I mostly tune them
out. I don't actually care since I don't eat at McDonald's. I did
wonder if there was a price increase because suddenly they're doing
something surprising like cooking fresh to order.

Heck, they did that even when they were using the frozen burgers. As a
kid and as a teen, any time we went to McD's I ordered a plain hamburger
or a plain cheeseburger. That meant it couldn't be something already
wrapped and sitting under a heat lamp, pre-dressed with pickles and
whatever) Order "plain" and they slapped a new (albeit frozen) pattie
on the grill/griddle. A slice of cheese, a toasted bun. I learned a
long time ago my pickiness about condiments and pre-dressed burgers gets
me one that is cooked when I order it. What a novel concept!

I do wonder if McD's is charging more for this not previously frozen
version.

It could be worse. We went to a Thai restaurant with some friends. They
had been there before and she had ordered a vegetable curry dish with
chicken, assuming they would take the same dish and add chicken to it.
Nope. They did it with chicken instead of vegetables. So when she was
there with us she tried to order the vegetable curry *with* chicken....
and vegetables. Nope. They could not do that.

sunk into the wet ground.

Understood. Sue and I may talk about it but it is maybe 10% or less of
our discussion. When we had lunch together we discussed a variety of
subjects from politics to food to cars, etc. I don't miss the work, but
I do miss some of the people.

I always find it ironic at ethnic restaurants how difficult it is to
get a dish with a lot of vegetables and a little meat. You just know
that's how they eat at home, but it's next to impossible to get that
in their restaurants.

That's funny but hey - they *did* give you no toppings!

Years ago, my young daughter and I went to Hardee's when they had
the full fixings bar. She ordered a cheeseburger and they left
out the burger and the cheese. It was just a bun wrapped up. lol
I took it back and got a correct cheeseburger and they told me to
just keep the plain bun. So I loaded it up at the fixings bar and
ate that. It was so delicious even without the burger.

Funny! These days a brawl would break out, all the customers would get

I wouldn't know that but I actually do NOT like the idea of
serving fresh, never frozen burgers at McDonalds. You just know
how that will turn out. If they don't sell all of their fresh
beef delivery before the next delivery....the manager will be
smelling the leftovers from the old delivery and tell employees
to keep selling the old stuff as long as it smells ok. Trust me,
that will happen. They will NOT want to toss out old beef and
lose money.

Frozen burgers are safer, imo. I've never had a problem with
frozen burger taste.

You're preaching to the choir. I wouldn't want to have to second
guess how many Quarter Pounders might be sold in a given day. Don't
want to 86 it off the menu so then over-order and worry about spoilage
(although ground beef, properly stored and chilled, will keep for
several days).

I have an old Tupperware stackable hamburger press set. I press and
freeze 1/4 to 1/3 lb. burgers all the time. I do take the time to thaw
one out before cooking it. But hey, I'm not working in a fast food
restaurant.

Chinese restaurant dishes are mostly veggies with little meat... in
fact it's very easy to order an all veggie dish with no meat because
most dishes are fully prepared and then bits of meat are added.
It's very easy to get pizza with veggies and no meat, same for pasta
dishes. Technically a peanut butter and jelly sandwich is all
veggies... bread is wheat and last I checked wheat is a veggie.
I find it easy to have all vegetable and no meat dishes at ethnic
restaurants, but be prepared for a lot of rice, beans, potatoes,
noodles, bread/tacos and such.

Ground meat can keep well refrigerated for a couple days... I'm sure
that most of yoose do exactly that with your stupidmarket ground
mystery meat... probably a day or two old when you buy it.

Like a small salad bar that contained everything you might want
to put on a hamburger. Fresh tomato slices, onion slices,
lettuce, pickle slices. Then packs of mustard, ketchup, mayo,
horseradish mayo, relish, etc.

I feel like I've forgotten many things but that's the basics. You
put what you want on your burger. Nice for turning a plain
hamburger into a deluxe one.

I had a meal in a Chinese restaurant in San Francisco that set the bar
for Chinese food way higher than anything I can get around here. I had
Kung Pau chicken for the first time and there was a lot of chicken in
the dish. The other item was crispy fried lamb and it was all lamb, no
vegetables at all. It was thin strips of boneless rib roast, dredged in
some kind of fine flour and spices and fried. It was delicious.

Understood. Having a meal with someone is a great time for pleasant
social interaction.

Why? Do you feel you must be entertained or entertaining when dining?

I like having a dining companion but if there's nobody but me at the
table, it will not ruin my meal or make it less enjoyable.

Beats me if we get little meat at our Chinese restaurants. They look like the correct amount to me. The last time we were at a Chinese restaurant, we had to order two plates with cake noodle. Cake noodle won't be found in China or anyplace else but here. It's great stuff.

We have the wood restacked now. We'd not put bricks under the footing
and all the rain made the ground soft.

LOl, a mistake for sure. WE moved the racks this year to a better spot.

I also got 2 more so I think it's 8 now (most 8ft, 1 12ft and a 6ft).
