I see that type of misquote often, and just figure that I can't see who
got snipped.

The only posts that are really confusing is Ophelia ... I can't figure
who said what! I guess her newsreader is a strange one.

=

Sorry, I don't really know what to do about it. I see chevrons of others
but not the one to which I am responding. which is why I make ==== between
them and my response.. From what I can see, I am not the only one who has
to do that. I have noticed though that when my posts are shown, the name of
the previous poster is often missed.

As you see I have added your name, just in case. I will try to remember to
do that, sorry

Northern California has some nice cold weather, particularly in the
mountains. And it's beautiful.

==

The weather here in Scotland has changed over the years. When I first came
to live up here, it was always cold and rainy. My first year it rained
every singled day Weather down south (England) was always good. Now it
seem to have gone upside down. Great here and bad in the south

Not always you understand, but very different to what it used to be. I love
the snow, but we don't get so much as we used to here.

I don't understand why Dave's offended when this is pointed out to
him. He clearly needs a few pointers because he keeps doing it wrong.

We don't have to change our name if we don't want to. It's our choice.

I'd go further north and go troppo if I could. Except the snakes and
the spiders are bigger there and you get bad cyclones.

But, also in Australia, there are seachangers who move from Queensland
(hot) to Tasmania (cold) for the weather.

It was the law here in Germany to change my name when we got married;
putting my maiden name first was the best I could do. Either that, put it
last (hyphenated, too) or lose it altogether.

Michigan winters are very cloudy. You might not like that. We go days
on end and never see the sun.

We'd view that (and Sheldon's suggestion) as an unwarranted government
intrusion into our private business.

I didn't change my name for my first marriage and did change it for my
second. I'm not chattel, either way.

Well, it's good to know that women in Germany no longer have to change
their name. Even though you had to back then.

Yes indeed! - That way, a friend of ours was able to conceal her marriage
from some unpleasant people. She's strong, but she's got enough on her
palate without their constant nagging.

I was down at the local cemetery the other day (visiting the
relatives...) and the majority of the stones with both husband and wife
on them, identified the woman by her birth name, not her married one.

I don't think it was the law many ago when I got married, but I often see
now that people are retaining their maiden name.

My doctor is a case in point. We know she married but her name never
changed,

Not surprising, there seems to be a LOT you don't know.

Yes, every news reading program is a little to a lot different. That's why I normally trim OUT all the superfluous text (as I have done here) and try and trim it down to only that which I am responding to.

Unlike the IJIOTS who include EVERYTHING and only add ONE SENTENCE or COMMENT!

Girls shouldn't even be getting married. And women don't need anyone
telling them they have to change their name or not.

Ophelia, here, it is "the usual" for women in medical, law, and similar careers not to change their
names because they have patients and clients who know them by their maiden names.

exactly. My daughter established herself as Dr. Why should she lose
part of her searchable history as a professional by changing her
name?

Most career women don't change their names, very few stars that ever do etc.

Ok, I haven't seen it here until recently. That isn't to say it wasn't

When I married in the UK in the early 50s it was just 'assumed' you
changed. I didn't but come the day I wanted to have the children put
on my passport I had to use Davids name. I fought hard but time was
on their side and I wanted the passports, so for the only time, I used
Davids surname. (I wasn't asking for the children to have my surname,
just me)

My d-i-l uses her "maiden" name but the kids have my son's.
I know a couple who used the father's name for the son and the mother's
for the daughter.

Nope, no gas cap at all. It does have the door to access the gas tank
but no cap on that tank just a membrane that the gas nozzle pushes out
of the way when filling.

It probably wouldn't hurt you to do a bit of research before you make
unfounded statements. Or better yet, go take a look at the new models
to see what they offer. It might broaden your horizons instead of your
butt by sitting on a tractor day after day.

I'm sure there's some air quality justification for that, but the first
thing that crossed my mind was, "I bet it costs a ton to replace."
