Default 9/6/2018 Dinner

Today we shall enjoy beef short ribs, seasoned with black pepper, browned then cooked in the oven with lots of fresh onions and garlic. Also smashed potatoes made with the last of some fresh cream and butter. Corn on the cob and fresh green beans. Dessert will be red raspberry cobbler with freshly made (this morning) whipped cream.

What are your dinner plans?

That sounds very good. We will have ham, baked potato, peas, and sliced
tomatoes. No dessert today.

Probably scrambled eggs and toast. I grocery shop after work on Thursdays
and never feel like making a big effort afterward.

We seldom eat desserts. Usually when we do, it's fruit. Now I want ham and scalloped potatoes. Lol

We usually go out for lunch on grocery shopping days. That often means leftovers from lunch or sandwiches. I never feel like doing much after shopping either. It takes everything I have not to beat morons with my cane when I grocery shop.

We had a new Sprouts store open up a couple of weeks ago, they have really
beautiful blackberries, for .98 a basket, probably a special price due to
grand opening. I do like fresh fruit for dessert the best too, especially
berries.

We both love most berries, but only eat blueberries in pancakes or muffins. The uncooked blueberries are a texture thing for me.

Blueberries in recent years cause mouth problems for me.

Stir fry veggies and pork with mango sauce, brown rice, fresh mango on the
side. Salad of Romaine, Radicchio, tomatoes, black olives, kidney beans,
Gouda and slivered almonds. I'm not very hungry so will probably just have
the salad and perhaps a little rice.

I like to see him eating them straight from the bush like that I think the
vitamins are best as they are freshly picked

For years I made pies with them, but not any more

I'm a big fan of scrambled egg sandwiches made with buttered toast. One
egg scrambled and two pieces of buttered white bread toast. What's not
to like?

I had to look up pork cushion, too. I went to Cash and Carry for
their special on pork butt but it was all gone. They had lots of
pork cushion and it looked like nice meat and the price was very nice.
copied from the 'Net:
"A pork cushion meat is a deboned piece cut from a large muscle of a
picnic shoulder. It is a well-leaned cut with a tremendous taste that
is best-cooked slow . Furthermore, a pork cushion meat comes in every
shape and size relying on how you cut it."
At $1.29/# it seemed a decent deal.
I don't know what pork meat my mother used. Sometimes she would do a
combo of pork and beef cubes. I use pork shoulder or country ribs or
anything similar that isn't a prime cut. I don't like greasy food so
I trim.
Oh, BTW, the amount of water in above s/b 1-2 cups depending upon how
much sauce you want. I'm using fresh mushrooms and bean sprouts so
they plus the other vegetables add a lot of liquid to the mix.
Oh, my mother used corn starch and then so do I
