Default Lasagna !

Yesterday, i spent most of the day making two large pans of lasagna, one for us, and one for the really nice people at PHYSICAL THERAPY. It was delicious, they loved it and so did we !

Default Lasagna !

Best Lasagna I ever had was when I was visiting Buffalo a couple months ago at a place called Mulberry's, after I saw it on "Diner's Drive-in's and Dives". The Lasagna starts at about the 3:45 mark:

That reminds me. Need to use up some lasagna noodles. Sometimes I go rogue
and layer them with chicken, gravy and veggies.

Seems to be a thread disconnect but anyway the crawfish lasagna was not
exactly a red tomato sauce but more like a gumbo sauce with some tomato.
I've tried to recreate it but was not even close to the New Orleans
dish. There are a lot of things you could layer between those luscious
noodles that would probably be quite good. I've tried using the "no
boil" noodles in order to cut back somewhat on the total effort and the
texture was too mushy. Then I just used the standard dry noodle and made
the layers without boiling the noodle first and it worked perfectly and
had good texture. Made the sauce a little juicer than normal and held
overnight then baked.

Mud bugs are an acquired taste perhaps. I grew up very close to
Louisiana and have been eating those things since I was a small child.
In the lasagna they are somewhat disguised in a gumbo kinda sauce. UMMM
good!! And there are peeled of course son you don't even have to suck on
the heads.

Lobster should be awesome also. Not tried that one but willing.

I love lasagna. I haven't made it in quite a while. Don't know why
since it freezes in individual portions quite nicely.

Yes, I like seafood lasagna. I haven't bothered to make it but got a
recipe from someone here. It's still on my to-do list.

There's nothing really "rogue" about chicken lasagna.

It has become a xmas tradition for me to make a seafood lasagne for my
d-i-l that we eat on xmas night (not eve). It contains shrimp, scallops
and sole and lots of cream:-) My d-i-l has Crohn's and is susceptible to
dairy but this recipe is so good that she is willing to suffer. It is an
Anne Willan recipe and was printed here a couple of years ago.

Why? They are a freshwater crustacean related to lobster but will only
live in clean waters.

I do believe it's your seafood lasagna recipe I saved. I've yet to make
it. I have Crohn's but dairy doesn't bother me in the least. Your
(Anne's) seafood lasagna is on my list of things to try, I promise.

I suspect there's a difference between UK crayfish and US crayfish aka
crawfish.

It's a bit fiddly, but not difficult to make, and you won't regret it!!!

I'm sure I won't regret it! It sounds downright tasty. It's one of the
few recipes on RFC in recent years I've saved to try. I don't have to
have to wait for x-mas, do I? LOL Shrimp and scallops won't be a
problem but finding sole will be a bit difficult.

I believe Australian "lobster" is really crayfish. Not that I care.

The closest I've come to seafood lasagna is lox lasagna, was good but
not something I'd do again. My faverite is saw-seege lasagna, large,
3 pounds of pasta, ready for the oven:

I have substituted salmon when I couldn't find sole. It worked quite
well. However, any white, delicately flavoured fish could be used.

IME yes.
I remember seeing the crayfish catch coming in to Yanchep, north of
Perth and buying a big bag of crayfish legs. I was told that a lot of
the crayfish tails were exported to the US where they appeared on "surf
n turf" platters as "lobster tails".

I could forward the recipe to you if you have Adobe pdf reader. I saved

I can see that. Thing is, I don't order surf & turf and don't eat in
restaurants very often anymore. I enjoy cooking.

Crawfish tail meat that I know of is different from the Australian
"lobster". Not sure I'd use it in lasagna but I re-created a dish
called 'Catfish Acadian' after having it in a restaurant in Memphis.
The crawfish was used in the slightly spicy sauce.

It's different, small and sweet. You don't have to buy them whole.
They're pretty darned ugly when they're whole. So are shrimps.

Those crayfish are also called lobsters here. Technically incorrect,
but they're supposed to be very close in taste. I don't know. I
haven't had either very often.

The taste and texture is essentially identical. BTW, my memory needs
re-booting. It was Lancelin not Yanchep, not that it would make any
difference he-)

What contrast? Lasagna fits the description of a casserole. If you look
at the Wikipedia article on casserole and follow the link "list of
casserole dishes" it includes lasagna.
