Default OT I'm about to get $400 cash!

Dave, not only does reporting to,the IRS maybe get someone a finder's fee, but it ALSO
calls the reporter to the attention of the agency. That is never a good thing. So one better
be 100% correct on their own taxes before being a tattler.

It is often best to remain under the radar. A couple years ago I was
out bicycling and came across a large plastic garbage bag in a ditch. It
reeked of rotten meat and there were some vultures hanging around. My
thought at the time was that maybe there was a body in the bag. I sure
didn't want to open it up. The smell would have been enough to gag a
maggot. If I knew there was an ongoing search for a missing person I
could have called the police. If it turned out to have been body I would
suddenly find myself being a person of interest in a criminal investigation.

You could have just called in an anonymous tip.

From a phone that can be traced, or a phone booth that will have my
finger prints? I had a better plan. I made like Sgt. Schultz.

LOL Chances are someone dumped a dead dog or something (sad though that
would be). I'm sure if a body had been found in a bag you'd have heard
about it.

I had not heard anything about a missing person so I allowed myself the
convenience of assuming it was maybe someone had cleaned out their
freezer. However, there are cases of people who go missing and the
chance that they have died or been murdered and their bodies dumped
somewhere. If you are the one who finds it and reports it you are
pretty well guaranteed that you will be a person of interest in the
investigation. How did you just happen to be at this remote place? ...
returning to the scene of the crime?

That is what I thought too.

"Daddy went out and buried Rover (in a plastic bag on the side of a road in a ditch!)" Oh the LIES we tell our children!

Dead dog stew can be pretty darn good assuming it was cooked long
enough and seasoned properly.

The absolute worst odor that I know of, unfortunately...but a one-time thing when I was very
young...is raw chicken not first sealed in one or two Ziplocks. It smells like I don't know what...
worse than a dead mouse, maybe.

"Oh no!! *I* might get in trouble! *I* better DO NOTHING!! And RUN AWAY!!"

Got that GUILTY CONSCIENCE, eh? What have YOU killed and put into a big plastic bag and thrown in a ditch?

I didn't see a crime. I saw a large garbage bag that smelled like rotten
meat and that attracted carrion eaters. It may just have been my
overactive imagination that lead the police on a wild goose chase over
some illegal dumping of garbage.
