The convenience store there has slabs of double smoked bacon. It is fairly lean and is not pumped full of brine, so it hardly shrinks at all when it is fried. By the time I get back I will have figured out what to make to go with it. I am thinking maybe some French toast. |

Janet US, those Jimmy Dean biscuits and sausage are one of my favorite things. But
I add a same-size piece of cheese as soon as it comes out of the microwave, than wrap it back up in the paper towel it was cooked in. By the time I sit down to eat, the cheese has melted just the right amount. (I also sprinkle the sausage side liberally with ground black pepper.). I like the maple flavored sausage the best. It is perfect for me because I can't stand and cook in the kitchen like I used to. N. |

I had a change of plan too. I picked up the bacon and some eggs. Instead of French toast I made some muffins, so had bacon, poached eggs and muffins. The muffin recipe was from the new JoC that I bought a few months ago and they were excellent. I wondered about the use of nutmeg, but it worked. |

Specifially: - 3/4 cup dry rolled oats - 1 1/2 cup water (or just a nip more) - a few shakes of salt in the water - maybe about 2 dozen raisins or less All that gets cooked then poured into a bowl containing: - 1 TBS butter - 2 TBS brown sugar Stir gently (fold) then eat. It's an occasional evening snack for me, never in the morning for breakfast. I never eat breakfast and haven't in the past 50 years or more. Also for the last 48 years, I always get out of bed by 4:30am and like to go outside in the morning dark. I've seen many sunrises. heh |

Also back then, Bob Hope was one of my favorites. Also Phyllis Diller. BTW - in case you didn't recognize it, the seagull joke was an authentic joke that he did. He did those often on his shows and you remember....when he told a G&H joke, it always started out with "two seagulls..." and he tucked his hands into his armpits to simulate wings. He would turn to the left when he was Gertrude then turn sideways to the right when he talked as Heathcliff. Funny classic stuff! ![]() One more old comedy genius imo was the UK's Benny Hill. |
