Default canned chicken broth

i've not used any of this for years, but
the other day i picked up a can of it to use
in a recipe.

ewww... tasted like chemicals/plastic and
not much at all like chicken.

i made the recipe anyways as it was only a
test dish and ate some of it, got out the
collander and rinsed it off and ate the beef
and onions without the sauce.

i won't be making that mistake again.

normally we use the paste kind of chicken
broth makings.

now i'm on to making the Thai spices and
beef and onions i'll have the rest of the
week/weekend. i know that recipe works...

The way I cook, it pretty much doesn't matter if I use homemade chicken stock, canned stock, or plain water. It'll still be tasty no matter what is available. These days I use chicken bouillon powder. None of these alternatives taste much like homemade chicken stock. That's the breaks.

That's how I feel about Pacific Foods chicken broth. proof that if
you slap an "Organic" label on a pile of turds people would buy it.
But they don't make cans and You can't be talking about Campbell's
or Swanson.

I have 1.5 16oz jars of BTB organic, reduced sodium (which means
more meat and flavor) Chicken Base from Costco. Organic because
it's still less than the conventional version at the grocery store,
not because it's organic.

I also have a case of Swanson lower sodium that I also got at
Costco.

I've got a jar of the chicken and jar of the beef Better Than Bouillon
in the refrigerator. It works really well in recipes that call for broth
from either animal.

it's a very reliable recipe, fry some spices, fry up
some beef with the spices for a bit, put in the coconut
milk after about an hour, half hour later add the onions
and cook those until they're still just slightly crunchy.

i'll be eating it for the next week or so. always
yum to me.

It's not all bad. I used to use a brand called Wild Oats. It was delicious!
Walmart was the only store that sold it and now they don't. Now I buy the
Sam's Choice Bone Broth. It's in a box. I don't find the taste to be quite
as good as the Wild Oats but it has more protein in it than regular broth
and I mainly only consume it when I'm not feeling well.
