aha! a simple question.
I just started cooking western food, usually, I just cook oriental food. I made cakes last night, but unfortunately, they are very dry. Do you have any idea about that? need more oil or even water? and more, Could you give me any recipe about cakes for me? classic one is good enough. Thank you. Kenny |

Did you have all the necessary ingredients and equipment or did you improvise? I don't know of any one "classic" cake, the options are so numerous. Goomba |

I agree with you, Goomba -- I wasn't sure if the OP meant bakery cake or pancakes or even something else. The actual recipe would really help... :-) -- J.J. in WA ~ mom, vid gamer, novice cook ~ "I rule you!" - Travis of the Cosmos, ATHF |

Well, cake mixes are usually pretty much idiot proof. Assuming you follow the instructions? Did you read the instructions? |

The boxes even have pictures on the back of the ingredients you will be using (3 eggs grouped together, oil in a cup, etc.) What would possess you not to read the instructions?? By all means, buy a cookbook and follow it exactly until you master the recipes. (And this is advice from someone who is no great shakes when it comes to backing, but can turn out wonderful cake mix cakes!) |

Why not ask a clerk at the store to read the instructions with you, going over each step. That way too you can be sure you have all the ingredients. Take notes. Don't be shy. Then, yes, you can put whipping cream on top of a cake. That would be the simplest and most delicious choice. You could also buy some strawberries. cut them in half and place them on top of the whipped cream decorated cake. Or, you can leave the cake undecorated, and serve the whipped cream and strawberries in separate bowls for each person to serve themselves with a bit of each beside their slice of cake. {I think I just talked myself into cake, whipped cream and strawberries. First thing tomorrow morning.} Happy Birthday to your wife, Kenny. Zee |
