milk unless is is in the form of cheese or ice cream.

Yes it is really good! Fortunately for me, I have a very small

True. When I say Indonesian, I mean the cuisine that the Dutch brought
home with them from Indonesia after colonial days were over. After WW2
roughly.

They're both Pad Thai, Gary. I think you would find most Thai food to
be not as particularly filling as they appear to be in photos. Which

That said, Pad Thai is probably better suited to lunch... technically
we had brunch on the day.


The wife is making a rice congee now for breakfast and that's
definitely quite light and not very filling. I might take some pics
and make and post about it later. It's really delicious.

I do tend to eat less when I'm away from the wife too :) I'd probably
do similar, but maybe with some fruit at some point as well.

The only common high calorie ingredients in Thai food are rice and
noodles... I keep both of those to a minimum... I'm not a huge noodle
fan so it's easy for me to do that. Rice is a little harder, although
riceberry isn't so bad.

No, that was at a cafe, Ophelia. We don't make it at home, it seems
like one of those things where considering the preparation required,
also it's no cheaper to make at home. Plus there is a bit of an art to
making it really well. I'd rate the one we had for breakfast as 6.5
out of 10. Good, but not great.

Anyway, here's a couple of videos on Pad Thai, I can't resist posting
the horrible version made by Gordon Ramsay as well, LOL. He just got
it SO very wrong :) Too much noodle, drowned it in peanut, lacking the
right balance of ingredients... he doesn't get it.

Actually, we have a Thai friend who imports it from somewhere in
northern Australia to Tasmania. It's already expensive in Thailand, so
you can imagine how much it costs in Tassie... I'm OK to go without
when in Australia. Make me appreciate all the more when I return to
Thailand.

It's in season locally at the moment and everywhere, so plan to
indulge in Durian during our last few days here.

I am in the middle of making 'Musubi' chicken with rice. Dsi1 will
understand that but it was what I called it :)) It is chicken cooked in a
sauce with soy, Chinese wine, brown sugar, onions, leeks etc. Very popular
in this house:))

Wine made from pineapple juice sounds interesting to me. I've

I always have to laugh at how up himself he is. I think he's now
reached the stage where he can't communicate with mortals anymore.

But I just watched him on Youtube, making a Spanish omelet. I'm always
interested when these big chefs come down from the skies and show us
how they cook something down to earth.

Jesus posted is good. My favourite is "janice morimoto hawaii". She is
funny and a bit silly but she does lovely food:)))

I'll check her out. My favourite used to be Ken Hom's cooking program
at the BBC. No huge ego, great Chinese food and the way he explains
what he does is very relaxing :)

You people are just disgusting, Pineapples are beautiful and should be
treated with respect. They can be sweet or sour or tart or all at the
same time. They can be yellow or gold, they can taste like oranges or
like an actual pineapple. They can be used for so so so many things, I
have seen pineapples or pineapple juice used fort things like: Food,
Air freshness, window cleaners, engine oil, nuclear reactor fuel,
murder weapons, pillows, body lubricant and many many others. So
please be respectful when talking about the pineapple, It is after all
McGuyvers favorite fruit

Neither do I, although I've come to the realisation has 'personality'
is all an act for the TV. It's a funny clip because it's one of those
rare times you see where he's failed as a cook and he gets criticism
for it :)
