That's something I wish I tried when we were in Strasbourg. I can't
complain, because everything else that we ate there was incredible, even
the French fries. There were all cut to the same size and cooked to the
same golden brown, sort of like McDonalds, but really good.

Looks good to me, too. Sometimes snacky-food is best for gatherings.

LOL Feel free to do that if you make it at home for just yourself and
your wife. The person who scarfs down every little snacky appetizer
thing at a gathering and asks for more is not invited back.

I loved the idea of the small pastry pockets with onions. I am not a
huge fan of the texture of onions but I'd have given those pastries a
try.

I discovered the ultimate snacky-food a month or two ago. My son was on
his way to our place and would be passing a particular pizzeria and
asked if I would like him to pick up a facaccia sandwich for lunch.
Sure. I had no idea what he meant, but said yes. It turned out that this
place takes a party pizza size faccacia bread, splits it in half, puts
layers of cold cuts, cheese and shredded lettuce with dressing, lays the
top back on and cuts it up into squares.

They only sell the individual sandwiches at noon but you can order a
whole sheet.... about twice the cost of a party tray pizza, but a much
better deal. I was telling a friend about it, and having grown up in
that city, he knew about it and said he and his wife often buy a whole
one when entertaining a crowd.

Ha... like my niece and the time she dropped in on her step sister, who
was getting ready to entertain a bunch of people she had invited for a
pool party. BN ate all the food before the guests arrived.

Do you mean foccacia?

No thanks.

I don't think she was talking about a crowd swarming.

I wouldn't serve a very large cold cut up deli meat sandwich to guests.
Just me. I like the looks of the small onion tarts. Mini quiches would
work nicely, too. Appetizers made with mini rounds of party rye bread
with ground Italian sausage and cheese are nice, too. Snack food.

It depends on the guests. A bunch of guys watching football?
Definitely. My husband and his friends playing D&D? Why not?

My grandmother's canasta group? Probably not.

One thing I've never had to worry about is a bunch of guys watching
football. LOL That is exactly what that deli-meat sandwich sounds like
it is for.

Okay, but this places spells it faccacia,

You might if you were Italian, like the friend who does it.

That's basically it. It is like a submarine sandwich, but a heck of a
lot better.

I hadn't thought about it in years, it was my younger daughter who
requested it but yes, it goes down well. I did a whole cookie sheet
and there was none left over.

Same here but for different reasons. I do enjoy american football
games and do watch all the ones aired with my favorite team but
never with a crowd. I watch at home alone with some good food
and watch games silently. So annoying to be with others with all
the hooting, hollering and crap after each and every play.

I like to watch the games, not be part of a drunken party crowd.
Very annoying.

Lately, since it's off season, I've been watching bits of the
other football (AKA soccer). Not bad if you have two good teams.
I saw two good ones last night...Saudi Arabia and some other
country's team. At least they were very good and kept it
interesting.

This one came on late night after the surfing contest I was
watching ended. This current one is something like Margaret's
River Pro, held in Western Austalia.

Only sad thing about surfing contests are that they don't do
pure, natural surfing. It's all hotdogging, showoff trick stuff
to gain points. Fairly annoying to watch actually.
