I took the hem out of a pair of Capri pants awhile ago. My neck started
hurting so I've stopped for a small break. Would you like updates when I
start working on them again?? Oh, I didn't use any fossil fuels either
to perform this task.

Yes. But it needs some pineapple shaped tiki torches. But
unfortunately these trinkets use petroleum fuels, and have been
condemned.

Yoose should know that since yoose live on a tiny rock.

Friday starts a tax-free week-end here so I'll be backing my fartbox out of the
carport and hitting a few stores. I should hang my head in shame, but I won't.
A/C will be blasting out some cold air in the fartbox, too.

It is odd, for sure. But computers are tax exempt and printers only if they are
bought as a bundled deal. Clothing is tax-exempt but belts are not. Say what?

I only itemized my taxes before once in life! Otherwise I take the STD deduction, so what's tax exempt or not is pointless to me!

Out of the many, many shades of pink and purple available at the paint
store, you picked those because of their marketing names, didn't you?

His back upper deck was those two colors anyway. He probably just
matched them. Hopefully he washed all that and let it dry before
he painted over dirt. Paint won't last long if he didn't.

Funny about paint color names. Every so many years, paint stores
put out new color decks (free to contractors and decorators but
about $10 to homeowners). Same colors but different names. Some
new employee tries to make the colors sound more appealing.

Benjamin Moore Paints, for example, also names paint colors by
region.
I remember seeing 2 exact color cards, same color but named
differently to appeal to the region.

In New England, one color was named and sold as "Cape Cod Blue."
For Virginia, the same color was named, "Williamsburg Blue."

It's just mind games.

Nope! Because they were the most INTENSE colors of pink and purple Sherwin Williams offered! Sherwin Williams' color names, NOT MINE!!

Yep! Income Tax is the tax you pay on all the moneys you earn! And Sales Tax is the taxes you pay on the things you BUY with the money you earn!

But I pay NO TAXES on the moneys I INHERITED! Because my father was a very smart man and set up a Living Trust naming my sister as executrix with my full consent because my sister is very honest and fair!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What's too bright for me might be
just right for you.

Eros pink reminds me of Pepto-Bismol. I haven't had much taste for purple
since high school--it was one of the school colors.

Everything on my house that's wood is stained dark brown, so as not to
distract from the split fieldstone the covers everything but the gable
ends and the porch.

I have always loved BRIGHT colors, especially in the Pink to Purple continuum as seen in many a sunrise/sunsets! And in the 1980's I saw many a sunrise working third shift in a donut shop!

If it's good enough for Mother Gaia it works for me!

Mother Gaia makes things in all colors, even beige and brown.

I see sunrise every morning.

Its good that your sister was appointed because its clear you dont know
the difference between tax free weekends and tax deductions.
Furthermore, Id question your knowledge base regarding paying taxes on
living trusts. Im guessing your father was smart enough to set it up so
that you get metered disbursements, knowing your proclivity for not
working, and knowing full well youd blow through it all in short order if
he hadnt.

Your father did not need your permission/consent/acquiescence to set up a trust
fund. It was his money do with as he saw fit and he saw fit to put it into a
trust fund with your sane sister in charge and not his bi-polar male spawn who
can't seem to hold a job.

As a homeowner paying real estate taxes it should be of interest. You
have to offset some of that rental income somehow.

That has zero to do with it. In order to have to pay taxes on inherited
money you would have to have received over 5 million dollars.

That sounds like a good assessment of the situation, Jinx.

Of course they're expensive but the items that qualify as tax-free
aren't determined by the store.

This SC government site explains on the main page:

https://dor.sc.gov/taxfreeweekend

"During the annual Sales Tax Holiday, a variety of back-to-school
essentials are exempt from the state's 6% Sales Tax and any applicable
local taxes. Tax-free items range from clothing, accessories, and shoes
to school supplies, backpacks, and computers. Shoppers will also find
tax-free items for their home or dorm room."

Sorry, but bridal gowns and veils don't seem to fit. Some other fun
stuff on the SC list. You can buy shower curtains/liners tax free. You
have to pay sales tax on shower curtain hooks. LOL

Could it be the same reason he thinks he looks cute in a pink hat? It
was probably on clearance at Sherwin Williams. (He seems to think it's
amazing there's a Sherwin Williams store in Saint Louis. Gee, there's
one on Lady's Island, SC, too.)

No thought at all for what his neighbors might think about having to
look at a pink and purple deck. Not the kind of neighbor I'm interested
in having. I can just imagine him ranting and raving as he uses his
electric lawnmower and the neighbors staying very far away.

A few hundred thousand at best. But to someone who's chronically
unemployed, it's a fortune.

It's probably a street full of rental housing for students. The tenants
don't care because they don't own the place. The owners don't care because
the value of the property is in its ability to make income.
