Default Grilled Pizza

Made it for dinner last night. I forgot how good grilled pizza can be.

I bought the dough from the supermarket. I put in in a SS bowl to rise
for a couple of hours. On the grill I find it easier to make two
smaller rather than one large so I split the dough in half and rolled it
out.

Meantime, the grill was heating to a bit over 600 degrees. We built the
pizzas with just sauce, fresh mozzarella, pepperoni. Put them on the
grill with the peel and just let them go.

The bottom of the crust is well done and crispy. The cheese and sauce
was bubbling away when I took them off. Damn, it was good. Just had
leftovers for lunch.

If I remember correctly, when an American says "grill", they don't
mean heat from above, right?

Yes, to me "grill" comes from above. I guess the Dutch language got
the word from UK English and in their meaning.

In Canada, grilling means heat from below. Broiling means heat from above.

Grill is from above for me, in Dutch and in English. I don't know if
Australians use broil.

Perfect explanation and that's what it means here in the USA.

Then there's grilling from the police if you've committed a crime; a whole
'nother kinda heat.

Yes, you literally turned the meaning around. I'd have expected
Australians to do that.

It's heat applied by the heat.

Grill has a lot of different meanings in American english. Mostly, it's the styled front opening of a car where air enters into the radiator. In hip-hop culture, it's a decorative dental appliance typically made of gold and precious stones.

As far as cooking goes, it refers to cooking on a metal grid that allows heat to pass through. It can also refer to the appliance/hardware that the food is grilled on. "Grill" can also mean cooking of a flat piece of sheet metal, typically in a restaurant setting. "Grill" is used by McDonald's restaurants to signify a custom order. I've been ordering a double cheeseburger with slices of tomato. That's called a "McDouble Grill."

Correct. The heat source is from the bottom but this was done with the
lid closed so you do get some surrounding heat too.

This is when it just started cooking. It looked much better when done.
I brought them in and did not think to take another shot of them. My
daughter happened to text me and asked what I was doing so this was to
show her.

Clearly not because Australians follow the UK on this.

Correct. You'd probably call it "barbecue".

It's food cooked on a grille.

Heat from above is called "broil".

Looks and sounds good to me. I've now got all the ingredients to
make another mushroom and onion pizza. The last one turned out so
good. This time, I'll add all of the sauce (didn't last time).
It takes a bit of effort to make one but the results are well
worth it. Yields several meals and snacks.

Yes it is, the idea is to cook a pizza in 4 or 5 minutes. The pizza in the picture was a pre-made frozen pizza that took about 3 minutes to cook up. It was first microwaved. I'm in a lot of hurry.

A micro-waved prefab pizza... Hawaiians have adapted a bit too well to

Sounds good.

I need some new/more "bbq rocks", where can I find 'em?

Will small pumice stones, from a garden place, work?

I thought you would like that recipe. I've never made ribs like that myself but my assumption is that it's the way the Swedes do it. My Swedish step-mom mostly cooks Swedish food so that's a good thing for me. I always have a lot of questions for her.

That seed pod came from an Autograph Tree - well, that's what it's called on this rock. The tree is named as such because people would write their names on the waxy broad leaves with their finger nails and an image would be visible for quite a while. Beats me how long that is.

Well I don't know anything about the seeds pods, but the pork ribs were a

I'd find it hard too. I'd have to make a list of easy vegan staples. I
wouldn't always have time or energy to be creative. Same with
vegetarian to a lesser degree.

If it is what suits you .. ) Do you get enough 'goodness' from

I think so. I'm not missing anything The only thing we don't eat is
meat.

I ran over a little bush rat mowing a paddock today. I don't know why
it didn't just get out of the way. I guess we could have eaten that.

I'm not sure. I think they're called bush rat because they live in the
bush, not in the city. They're clean compared to a sewer rat And
smaller.

Good eats if you run over enough of them. That assumes you're
allow to eat them. You know my mantra - if you kill it, at least
eat it.
