Nothing fancy; pure comfort food. Mince & mashed potatoes. Steamed
broccoli florets on the side. No pics so I guess it never happened.

I'm going to have leftover chili and rice. Am headed to Winco to pick up a
few things then will make zucchini bread and corn bread because I'm out of
gluten free bread and tomorrow is the age 55 and up discount day at the
bread store.

Steak fingers here but I think I could have used double or triple the amount
of seasoning I put in the flour.

We had pizza again last night. One was spinach, the other with sausage
of some sort. I'll compensate today by adding 50% more
exercise/training to my usual routine... Stupid and unnecessary, but
I'll feel better about it

Back to the pizza - No idea how they cooked these (do they even have
an oven?), but the base seemed like it'd been barely cooked at all...
We eat at this restuarant often, as the food has always been
excellent... but it looks like pizza is a no-go there.

I have no pics either so I'll just make up something.
Breaded pork chop, fried apples, mashed potatoes. Tomorrow will be a
duplicate as I made two center cut bone in chops.

I cook a lot of stuff on the grill, but breaded just sounded so good I
got out my good copper pan. Moose talked about pork schnitzel and it
got me thinking about doing this.

I'm going to have to try this fried apple thing one day. Any tricks or
methods used, beyond the obvious?

Can of cream of mushroom soup. Got a stomach flu (it's actually a
virus they say) and was down hard yesterday and recovering today. Had
chicken noodle for lunch.

Yeah, that's often the case with a flu.

I fry them in butter and put a little brown sugar and cinnamon, but that
is optional. You don't need a lot. I've also made them with star anise
for a little different flavor.

About all I can think of is go easy on adding any additional water as apples
seem to release quite a bit when cooking them. Some folks add a sprinkle
of cinnamon to theirs as they fry. I'm not a cinnamon person myself but I
have no trouble eating fried apples if someone has cooked them with a dash
of that spice.

Oh, some people like their fried apples peeled and others like theirs with
the peels on; makes no difference to me.

My guts were acting up yesterday so I skipped supper. My wife was in
town for a function and brought me some Pho from the Vietnamese
restaurant. That worked pretty well. This morning I had half a banana
in a bowl of yogurt. Later on I bought a litre of kefir and had a good
slug of it. That seemed to really do the trick.

I served my husband a half can of Campbell's Chicken Noodle soup. He's
got a bug -- head and gut and all that.
I had something I called 'flu' a couple weeks ago. Head, gut and
hurt so bad in muscles and bones I could barely walk. Took over 2
weeks to get rid of the darn thing.
I had horseradish mashed potatoes for supper. Comfort food for me.
I meant to have my flu shot by now. The papers here tell us that the
season is starting way early and is supposed to be bad based on the
Australian flu season that is just finishing.

From which supermarket? Or is it from someone's basement, assuming
they don't live in a goat barn.

Pizzas are cooked hot and fast. Those bowls should be on fire. Having
said that, it's a pretty presentation.

Yes. As mentioned, I doubt they even used an oven.

I've only worked in restaurants twice in my lifetime, and both were
primarily pizza restaurants, so I learned how to make a decent
pizza...I also learned to cook properly from working there too, which
was a bonus, in hindsight.

Pizzas need to be cooked hot and fast, as you say. Back in Aus we are
fortunate to have a wood fueled oven, it's ideal for pizzas, as it can
be super hot if that's what you need. https://postimg.cc/gnt5rz08 Not
a good example of pizza though - that one was bought from a
supermarket and jazzed up a bit... but it turned out surprisingly OK

I'm planning on getting my flu shot Friday when I head to the grocery store.
Last year I also go a pneumonia shot and since it was the first one I'd ever
had they recommended I take the 'original/first' version of that vaccine.
I'll ask this year if I can get the current or newer version of the pneumonia
vaccine.

It looks good though. I am waiting to get my new oven installed but it
may take some time. I think he is missing my pizzas so it might not be too
long <g>

What are you training for?

Old joke about doctors that "practice medicine" -

and I'll come back.

Well the toppings look good and finished. If the base (dough) is
underdone, probably because of those wooden cooking pans. A
pizza should be slid into a hot oven or if on a pan, it should be
a metal pizza pan. Those wooden things make a nice presentation
but not good to cook in. They would certainly keep the base
underdone.

You're brave saying that here, cshenk, especially to Jill.
Anytime I mention using that I hear criticisms from all
the food snobs here. Jill usually leads the pack.

Hopefully that wasn't canned chicken noodle soup. <gasp>

It's been said that a 24-hour stomach flu is often a
case of mild food poisoning. Just what I've heard.

Hope you feel better today though..
