Yet it's still overwhelmingly thought of as being Jewish - primarily So. Fla. Jews (2% of the US Population) comprise 8.9% of NYC which is the Mother of American-Judaism. It's not about number, it's about influence...

Boca Raton ("6th Borough of NYC" eh) is the new Miami for Jews. Most of Miami has lost its ethnic Jewish flavor. Plenty of Kosher eats in Boca and throughout So. FLA, including the biggest one of them all, Ben's NY Kosher Deli/Restaurant. They also have Carvel, Brooklyn Water Bagel Co., Nathan's at Miami Grill, and up until recently Junior's. The one who claims that there are no Kosher bakeries? Perhaps you were searching in Central or Gulf FLA - aka The Gentile side. eh Try the one in Pompano - it resides inside Festival Flea Market right out on the aisle. Another one just recently closed in Boca. Hint: very expensive. They lasted a year or so. Have you never heard of the term "Snowbird?" eh Most New Yorkers (many being Italian and Jewish) always come to FLA during the winter months, then shlep back to NYC. Which is why you see an * next to the Jewish population chart for FL - they excluded 69K Jews who are Snowbirds - ie. not permanent residents of FLA, as they only spend 3-7 months there. -D, "We held a concert out in Brooklyn. from Norfolk..And picked the Yankees up for free..They said that Queens

I wonder what makes it Jewish. The monoglyceride or the calcium
propionate?

Pepperidge Farm Bread, Jewish Rye:
"Unbromated Unbleached Enriched Wheat Flour [Flour, Malted Barley
Flour, Niacin, Reduced Iron, Thiamin Mononitrate (Vitamin B1),
Riboflavin (Vitamin B2), Folic Acid], Water, Rye Flour, Salt, Soybean
Oil, Contains 2 Percent or Less of: Wheat Gluten, Caraway Seed, Malted
Barley, Monoglyceride, Dextrose, Yeast, Calcium Propionate (to Retard
Spoilage), Lactic Acid and Enzymes."

Yes. It looks a little like real Jewish rye, but it doesn't taste like
it, and the texture is definitely WonderBreadish.

Hardly surprising as the principal ingredient is wheat flour.

There does seem to be a constant Jewish theme. It's not as bad a
constant anti Jewish rant, but it is not much better.

Just to be clear, I don't care about anyone's religion. This is clearly
a troll who dredges up old posts and then starts talking about Jewish

Jill, bull-dreck!eh There had already been an ongoing discussion about finding fresh Jewish rye and Kosher bakeries in FLA. If you were self-assured and knowing, you would not continually kvetch about anything Jewish. You are not overly anti-Semitic in your responses, but there's always a tinge of snide sarcasm in your responses that revolve around Jewish cuisine.

The irony is that she should care, we should all care. Think of a world without Jews: no Christianity, no Sabbath, no Moses, no Jesus of Nazareth, no Bible, no 10 Commandments, no Hollywood, no Einstein, no Freud, no polio vaccine, no syphilis cure, no Dylan, no Gershwin, no reason for living as Jews started the whole shebang - life! eh -D, "Western civilization is undeniably a 'Jewified' civilization, however offensive the word may be to our ears because of the ugly use made of it by anti-Semites - anti-Semites believed that Jews were everywhere, and in a sense they were almost everywhere that counted in modern society." - ALBERT LINDEMANN, in Esau's Tears: Modern anti-Semitism and the Rise of the Jews, Cambridge University Press, 1997, p. 20.."Hebraic mortar cemented the foundations of American Democracy" - WILLIAM LECKY, Historian.."The Jew is the emblem of eternity. He who neither slaughter nor torture of thousands of years could destroy, he who neither fire, nor sword, nor Inquisition was able to wipe off the face of the earth. He who was the first to produce the Oracles of God. He who has been for so long the Guardian of Prophecy and has transmitted it to the rest of the world. Such a nation cannot be destroyed. The Jew is as everlasting as Eternity itself" - LEO TOLSTOY

This newsgroup has been laying stagnant for the last decade. The same schtick being repeated over and over again. I'm not against new people coming here and shaking up the joint. The complacency here is brain numbing.

We have a Hawaii nut, we have or had a Thai nut, we have a Right-Wing
Nut, we have an Anti-Gluten Nut and now you want a Jewish Nut. But
aren't those nuts the most complacent of all?

Whether or not Jews are praised, anti-Semitism shall always exist. Economic jealousy has always fueled anti-Semitism. Success breeds envy, and Jews have been successful in a way that breeds jealousy. Jews have always been victims of their own successes. Jews were the convenient scapegoats for the misfortunes of others throughout history. Like it or not, there are clear socioeconomic differences among the creeds. Like it or not, Jews ARE separate and unique from any other peoples. In terms of their scope of persecution, their small population number (1/4 of 1% of the world's population), and their ability to disproportionately excel in every field of human endeavor. Jews had gone without a homeland for eighteen-hundred years. Despite the overwhelming odds against them, Jews have exerted an influence on Western Civilization more profound and lasting than any other ancient culture. Jews are not better, they have simply "fared" better than any other ethnicity as a whole. Jews stand as a living testament to perseverance. -D, "Comprising, as they do, a remarkably small percentage of the population of our nation they {the Jews} have distinguished themselves to a strikingly disproportionate degree. Although Jews number only about three percent of our population, they have been awarded 27 percent of the Nobel prizes won by American scientists. Perhaps my own personal early background, a thoroughly anti-Semitic culture, enables me to perceive more clearly than most certain realities of Jewish-Gentile relations in the US. Anti-Semites, whether of the truly vicious or almost casual type, perceive Jews as inferior. On the contrary, they are superior" - STEVE ALLEN (From his introduction to Tim Boxer's Jewish Celebrity Hall of Fame (1987).."In 1983 alone, Jewish-American scientists received 27% of the Nobel prizes awarded in their disciplines. In proportion to their population number, the number of Jews in medicine exceeded 230%, those in psychiatry neared 480%, and those in mathematics approached 240%" - JEWISH CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE AMERICAN WAY OF LIFE By ASHER B. While there's no denying that Hindus have also become synonymous with medicine, there are over 1 Billion Hindus in the world. It would be ok if there were more posts about food. I think some people

There was a discussion last fall. You're late to the party and every else
turned out the lights and went home.

Ah, but prior to my arrival, no one had given a proper answer to all those concerned. eh Let alone in the same wonderful & wacky way! eh Bottom line, Jill & Joan think they own this newsgroup. And both use childish retorts in defending their bizarre reasoning for carrying on over nothing. They're clearly "not all there."
