Ohh, here I am waiting for it to cool enough to slice..

Sigh ... I was referring to Gary's comment about eating it with his

It doesn't matter to me what the Dutch do. It just goes to show how a national upbringing can leave its stamp on a people. Asking the Dutch to give up Black Pete is like asking the Americans to give up Jesus, Santa Claus, or the Easter Bunny.

Well, maybe we could give up the Easter Bunny. I mean, he's so hippady-hoppidy ridiculous! Perhaps we could replace the Easter Bunny with Black Pete. I mean, he's the right color and all. OTOH, as all Americans know, that would be incredibly racist.

No one here is more racist than you, Ukelele... no one has been more
racist and no one will ever be more racist than the Ukelele.

I think Black Pete's on the way out. There was an attempt at
compromise by making him Soot Pete. Black from chimney soot. But the
Offended People were still offended. It'll have to be Rainbow Pete or
even Stroopwafel (really) Pete.

I think North Americans get a rash these days when they see a
blackface, at least in public, so better not. It's a miracle Trudeau
is still the janitor of Canada.

Surely you can't be serious. You and some other clowns on this newsgroup think nothing of race-baiting in a desperate attempt to get the attention you crave from little old me during this holiday season. That makes me feel so special.

You can just forget about calling me names, Uncle. That doesn't work. If you were 6 years old, I'd think it was cute. If you're over 6, that's just pathetic. That shit don't work on me cause I've been called worse by people more important than you. Like that guy in the movie said: "If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can ever imagine." Yee haa!

Yes, definitely. Easter Bunny is evil. Leaves tons of sugarized
candy for our children to rot their teeth and promote diabetes.

Not all that friendly either:

White ppl in blackface started way back when when blacks were
rarely hired as actors. So white ppl did the black face.

It was just a common thing and I never thought of it as
racist but it probably was. Probably offended blacks then.

Current governor of Virginia has been under fire for several
months now once someone discovered a photo of him in
black face in his old college yearbook.

I see the day coming (soon) when we hold public figures accountable
for drawing on the nursery walls.

I think it's the intention that makes something or someone racist or
not. I don't think Trudeau was a racist when he had that blackface,
because the intention behind it wasn't racist.

Now you are held accountable for anything you ever did. It was a
different time and acceptable back then.

Remember ethnic jokes? I've heard every possible Polish joke. Many I
turned into Italian to tell to my FIL. Today I read that a couple of
Asian organizations now want Jay Leno fired for his Korean comment.

People on the mainland are uptight about race. They believe that America should have a homogeneous society. Good luck with that. Hawaiians love ethnic humor, thought not the kind found on the mainland.

Thanks to you, I get to see how lackluster and unimaginative your people are. I was talking to my Swedish step-mom about sinterklaas and black pete. I was happy to hear that she knew nothing about it. What happens in Belgium should stay in Belgium.

Belgium? Telling European countries apart is hard for Americans. It's
alright though. Europeans have the same with US states. If they only
knew how speshial one of them is!

You might be located somewhere else but my guess is that you're going to be dull wherever you may roam and yes Virginia, what happens in Belgium should stay in Belgium.

If he was doing a black face routine, blackening his skin and acting
like a simpleton negro, then he deserves to be pilloried for
perpetuating that sort of stuff. However, I reject the idea that anyone
who puts on dark makeup as part of a masquerade costume is doing
"blackface". That being said, it was amusing to see our prime minister
caught up in a blackface scandal. He is the leader of a political party
that preaches political correctness. Then he got caught in a lie. When
asked if there were any more pictures like that around he said yes,
there may be another. Sure enough there was a second one, and then
there was a video of him jumping and dancing like a subhuman and with a
banana in his pants.

Well okay, you can get your Belgium chocolates. I find them kind of boring and unimaginative. A box of Belgium chocolates holds no surprises or offers any kind of fun. That's the breaks. Your best bet is to get them at Costco.

Well it is a Dutch thing as well as a Belgian thing. The Belgians try to keep it their little secret. That's a smart move on their part.

Belgians excel at making chocolates, beer and "French" (what's in an
American name) fries. I'm sure they excel at more, such as healthcare,
but this was just a start.

Hawaii Aloha is probably the most important song in this state. It is a song that embodies the solidarity of the Hawaiians and the locals with the land. Here's a nice video. The weird part is that one of these people could play an important part on the world stage some day.

"The music used for the song "Hawaii Aloha" was taken from a Christian
hymn entitled "I Left It All With Jesus""

What's with these Asians and other people of colour? Why do they
always have to copy the religion of their white masters? Oh wait, I
know! Beause they're their masters, of course!

I don't know nothing about that. Yoose asking the wrong person. My guess is most Japanese folks do not, in fact, worship the white man's God. Most of them worship their own Japanese gods or rocks and trees or some such objects. You should probably ask these folks or people that worship Mr T. Good luck!

Yes, I think most Asians worship their own stuff. I don't know about
Hawaiians.

Hawaii Aloha is probably the most important song in this state. It is a song
that embodies the solidarity of the Hawaiians and the locals with the land.
Here's a nice video. The weird part is that one of these people could play
an important part on the world stage some day.
