That's what people say. I can't say if it's true. If I didn't have it I'd
just use regular salt. Use about a third less. I've made a couple of batches
of the stuff. I'd use vinegar instead of lemon juice - it tastes better.
Well, that's the way I see it. I'd ditch the 5 spice and cloves and stick in
a few star anise instead. Well, that's just what I'd do.

LOL you sound just like me when I am using a recipe <g>

No, of course not, the only thing you're interested in is eating but I want to also learn how people were back in the old days. Rest assured that I'm not interested in this kind of cooking as a general practice - not

that it's any of your business.

Why do you talk in a public forum about things that are none of our
business?

Interested in learning about it, yes. I ate enough of that shit in the
1960s. I don't need to eat it now.

You made it my business by posting it to Usenet.

This is the archive:

https://groups.google.com/forum/#!fo...c.food.cooking

It doesn't work well since Google took it over. You can search for
"Ophelia" and sort by date. But it will start with 2020 and before
you've gone back a couple of years, the day will be over. Unless
there's a way to sort starting with the furthest back.

Cindy wondered about dsi1's experience with Usenet. But I'll pass on
that you don't care.

Cindy, Joan doesn't care. Oh, and she's also clueless!

People have been saying that the Google Groups search function is broken but I have no idea what they mean by that. I find that goofy as heck!

Before Google took over, you could search for posts by a particular
author or in a particular date range etc. Now you can only do a crude
search for keywords.

You probably never used the archive before Google took over, so you
don't know how much better it used to be.

Do you know how I can search for the keyword "Ophelia" and sort in
ascending date order, so starting with the oldest, not with the
newest?

As I said, Cindy was wondering about dsi1's Usenet experience, not me.

A few years ago, he forgot to change his id here and
posted using his real name and address. I caught that one
and learned what he did for a living. No big deal though.

Saying something is "better" isn't saying anything at all.

Sounds like you never used Deja News. Denying better is just
about not knowing.

This is the archive:

It doesn't work well since Google took it over. You can search for
"Ophelia" and sort by date. But it will start with 2020 and before
you've gone back a couple of years, the day will be over. Unless
there's a way to sort starting with the furthest back.

LOL I am not that bothered I know it is over 20 years

On this newsgroup, my guess is that it would be around early January 2002.

LOL wow!!! Do you know, I remember that)) I was in the UK food group
before I came here. Several posters got so nasty a lot of us left and it
died. I don't suppose I need to point out someone who did that?

Oh no, not FB!

I use FB for keeping in touch with the kids and grands I do see the
cooking group but I rarely read it

I much prefer it here without all the adverts.
