I'd venture that the majority of gun owners have never done either. My
experience with skeet was formed in the UK. It tended to be an
upper class sport with expensive and specialized arms. I've shot a
few times with my inherited guns but my dad's arms were much shorter
than mine. As to the range, for those who are not into idiot tactical
cosplay and posturing, like the milling herd that showed up in
Richmond, VA the other day, it can be diffictult to find a place where
training, shooting, sighting hunting arms takes precidence over
dick waving. Personally, I think all the dick wavers will eventually
destroy sport shooting. They seem to be of the mindset that all of
the rest of the country should fear their camoed, mollied, fat asses
and waving guns. If that ever sinks in, all those who are afraid will
see to it that the posers and (unfortunately) all other owners are
either disarmed or elminated.

Purely MHO.

LOL I am in UK and we have to have licences for ours. They last 5 years
and then have to be renewed. As you probably know, no one here is waving
their guns around or boasting about them )
