I do like to add sliced banana to vanilla icecream... however for the past two years I've been eating two bananas every day, doctors orders for night leg cramps, and with a magnesium pill before bed. So far it's worked... night leg cramps are awful, very painful, ruins a night's sleep, by the time I could walk it off it was light out so I never did get back to bed. Bananas are healthful and very low calorie with just about zero fat. Only negative is that bananas have gotten expensive, I can remember 9¢/lb, now they are normally 59¢/lb but sometimes 79¢/lb, and very rarely bananas go on sale for 39¢/lb... I'm tempted to buy a bunch on sale but bananas don't keep well unless I freeze them and at times I do, peel and wrap each in waxed paper and twist the ends like a candy. Frozen bananas are like eating frozen custard. I sometimes offer a frozen banana to a women, they seem to like it, I enjoy watching women enjoy sucking on a frozen banana. |

Bananas are recommended for people that have leg cramps which can indicate a lack of potassium and magnesium in their diet. I have to avoid bananas on a regular basis because they give me leg cramps. That's not a problem. If I get cramps, a couple of 500mg tablets of Tums will stop the cramps. |

No. I have always eaten bananas. I love them. I suddenly started getting cramps in my legs. I went to the doctor, got the prescription. The quinine didn't seem to be reducing the frequency or the severity of the cramps so I stopped taking it. Within a week or two they pretty much stopped happening. |

If they aren't too bad you can get up and walk them off, but I had some that we so painful and so severe that I could not stand up. A couple times I could feel a muscle sticking out the back of my thigh. It was like a thick cable and rock hard with the tension. |

I > love taking a good long nap about an hour after a big meal. sugar can trigger them for Mom. she takes extra calcium, magnesium and some other things which help. to me food comas are something i don't like at all so i tend to eat a light meal and not too much sugar and i don't have that problem. vegetables and just enough protein or half a sandwhich is enough. i try to keep to not snacking at night or between meals, but once in a while is ok. i used to eat a high carb breakfast and crash not long after it. now most mornings i have a banana with peanut butter and don't crash at all - i feel a heck of a lot better too. after 11 months i finally got back to 170lbs and hope to take off another 15lbs in the next year or two. songbird |

It seems odd that starches and sweets would cause cramping as I'm not even close to being pre-diabetic. My labs about 4 months ago showed my glucose in the normal range and an A1C of only 5.1. |

It was tender and juicy enough to eat as a steak. OTOH, I think I prefer chuck in a beef stew or a pot roast.
