I've been an "endomorph" all my life. Today, I'm probably as skinny as I'll
ever be. What are you trying to say?

We may be even fatter after pancakes and sausages for supper tonight.

Funny but true. The best "scale" is a mirror.

YUM! Pancakes have been top of my list for several weeks now. I
haven't made them in many years.

The scale is merely a numerical reference. Mirror is reality. I'm
thinking of painting mine black.

I have a goal but it looks like it is a long trip the way it is going.

Mine is my suit. I had it taken in a few years ago when I had lost some
weight, but over the last couple years I gained most of it back. I have
to go to a funeral on the weekend and tried he suit on. It fits, but it
is a little tight. I so rarely wear a suit it is hardly worth getting a
new one.

i clocked in at 170lbs yesterday!

i told myself a few months ago that i can't make my
favorite cookies until i reached that level again. it's
taken me almost a year to get back to it. now another
15lbs and i'll be where i want to be.

frosted black walnut cookies.

eww, i just can't like those raised donuts. to me a
donut has always been cake donuts and fried until
crispy anything else is just not worth the calories.
no frosting needed, but if i have to have one then
chocolate frosting only and not that disgusting fake
greasy crap. all IMHO.

what flavor do you like the best for filling?

i like custard first, pastry creme or a very light
frosting is ok 2nd, blueberry or strawberry is ok but
i will prefer that to be fresh fruit in custard instead
of the canned stuff that everyone seems to use now.

here is what is funny and true my whole life. my
most favorite store bought pastry is a cream curl.
almost no flavor other than the vanilla and crunchy
pastry and the salt and sweet. i only eat them once
every year or two now.

since we bake so much here and it is of much
better quality and to our tastes it is very very rare
that we buy cookies or pastries of any kind. same
for the chocolates too.

yeah, we're kinda snobby. haha... but to me if
i'm putting things down my gullet i want to know
what is in them and if i've grown and cooked them
then at least we're doing good in that regards.

I like both kinds. My favorite, though, is a sour-cream
cake doughnut with a light glaze. Light enough that the
doughnut is still crispy.

I'm not sure I have a favorite. Today I had a raspberry
paczek, and the tart raspberry offset the sweet and
greasy quite nicely. Bonus: the place made "mini-paczki",
so I could get my paczek without quite so many
empty calories. It was sprinkled with powdered sugar,
although glazed would have been nice.

There's a bakery here that has rose-hip jelly paczki, but
I've never been able to haul myself over there early enough
to get one.

We bake very little, but I prefer to buy quality baked
goods.

I trust my bakery. They have a big window between
the baking area and the sales area. I can press my
nose to the glass and see everything that is going
on in there.

Cake donuts are so much better than raised donuts. There used to be a
bakery chain, Women's Balery or National Bakery<?> that sold wonderful
cake donuts. Tim Hortons used to have several types of cake donuts, but
they switched to that par baked system and none of their donuts are
worth eating.

I made cake donuts a few times. I no longer have a deep fryer.

Â* You DO know that Lyme can be cured ? I've had it twice , antibiotics
killed it both times . The longer you wait the worse the damage to your
body , I still have achy joints especially when it's rainy .

i like those too, my favorite muffin is a cream cheese
pound cake type, where the top gets a bit crunchy. i
don't make them yet, but someday i'll probaby have to
give them a try.

yeah, portion size has gotten pretty crazy some
places, i don't need a full pound muffin or pastry
the size of a plate.

haha! maybe you can reserve one if you are a
frequent enough customer that they recognize you
they may be willing to accomodate your request?

my Mom worked in a bakery as a young teen. tough
hours. i almost joined a monastery that both baked
and made a lot of other things. cooking isn't a
thing i've ever been afraid of or hesitated to try
something new.

yeah, i remember when that happened and shortly after
i stopped buying their donuts too. never been back.

> I made cake donuts a few times. I no longer have a deep fryer.

i used to make them when i was younger and we had a small
deep fryer. now we don't cook that ways ever here so there's
no way i'd do it, but i could pan fry up some batter in butter
and get close enough to the parts i enjoy the most (the crunchy
parts ). i do that when i make pancakes, the mix isn't that
much different, i just sprinkle some lines and dribbles on the
pan when i have some left or want more crunchies.
