Default Yummy combo!

I got some new (to me) pita bread at Winco. I got whole wheat but they also
had white. It's not the pocket type but has perforations down the middle. I
topped it with hummus and pico de gallo. Yum!

The white would be great stuffed with good Genoa salami, provalone,
and Guldens spicey brown... you can have all the fercocktah hummus...
something Greek Style plumbers use for setting toilet bowls.

No, I'll take my Genoa and provolone with red-wine vinegar and EVOO.
That's just about what I had for lunch today: an Italian-style
sub from Jimmy John's.

I don't know much about pita bread but aren't you supposed to break the pita on the perforations and then open and fill the halfs?

No. They are usually an inferior form of pita, chuck full of
preservatives to keep them mediocre. Real pitas are really good when
they are fresh, but they don't keep well in the bag, in a fridge or even
in a freezer.

I agree. There's a Middle Eastern market across the street from my
office that has an in-store bakery, where a bunch of middle-aged
ladies make pita. It's great fresh, but doesn't store well.

Thanks for helping me fill in my pita knowledge base. Evidently, pita with perforations are a relatively new development, if this patent is any indication.

You're right. About the fast food, not about the underwear:
https://www.jimmyjohns.com/

And I'm assuming a sub is part of a baguette, aka French stick.

Nope, on lung island, it's called a dutch dik. Like a dutch date,
each party pays for half the dik.

My friend owns several Jimmy Johns. I've heard they are good in other
locations. The one I tried here was no good. Stale bread, boring sandwich.
Wasn't my choice to go there. Was not my friend's location. Hers are not
near here.

No. As I said, this was not the pocket type. It was docked. That prevents it
from pocketing.

Nonsense! I have made real pita bread. Doesn't last long only because it's
so good!

I could, but I didn't want to.

The bread, meats, cheese and vegetables from Jimmy John's are identical to
what I would buy at the grocery store.

Apparently she made pita so good that my comment about good pita not
keeping well or even freezing well was inaccurate because her pita was
so good they ate it right away. I am still trying to get my head around
that. Never mind the gluten issues, carbs and diabetes.

Thanks for that. Now I no what you're talking about and have a new word of the day. It looks like I docked three pies last week.

He is back to eating gluten. Yes, I have diabetes. Yes I eat carbs. There is
no rule that diabetics can't have carbs. I just have to watch how many I
eat.

"Docking" is too high class a word for me. I just say "poke da puka all over da stuffs."

Were you watching your carbs intake or did you eat them all while they
were fresh?

Ouch. Caught in another vortex of stupidity and you resort to a silly
insult. I had written that real pitas are good when they are fresh,
but that they don't keep well, not even in the freezer, and then you say
that is nonsense because when you made them they didn't last long
because they were eaten up. Really????

Real pita is real easy to bake, I've done it many times, turns out
best in a hot outdoor covered grill. But I've not made my own for
years, today the packaged ones sold at market are much better than
they were in past years.

Really!!!! I doubt Julie ate them all herself... she gets company,
but not BN who would polish off hundreds. Pita freezes very well, and
heats up to freshly baked in a toaster.

Do I need to repeat it a third time? Maybe I should just type it slower.
Your claim that your pitas are eaten up immediately is irrelevant to
what I said about fresh pitas not keeping well.

Jesus Christ you are ****ing dense. I said the good fresh pitas don't
keep well. Pretending that yours are so ****ing delicious that they get
eaten up right away does not negate that fact that, heaven forbid your
dysfunctional clan of picky eaters did not use them up right away, they
would not be so wonderful if you had to keep wrapped up for a couple days.
