I noticed that many national chain stores and restaurants are advertising 20 percent off of your purchase as enticement to get people in the door. Janet US |

I don't eat lobster, no more than I would parrot and tortoise... I'm not about to murder critters that can outlive me... Lobster can live 100 years. https://lobsteranywhere.com/lobster-...bster_Fun_FAQs I have occasionaly eaten lobster but many years ago. I'm not all that fond of lobster, I certainly can't understand all the swooning over eating Lob-Ster. There are other shellfish that I enjoy far more and they cost little plus can be prepared in many ways... I like bivalves; clams, mussels, and I think scallops are much tastier than lobster. I think a good Bouillabaisse is the king of seafood dishes and it needn't contain lobster. I like mussels marinara as well. Easy and costs little, in fact I used to harvest all the mussels I wanted with a two minute stroll from my front door. My first house, on Lung Guyland's north shore, was (depending on tide) about 500' from the water's edge.... the only thing I miss by living in the Catskills is the sea. However Lung Guyland became very crowded, noisy, and crime infested, the scourge began when the LIE was extended to Riverhead. The biggest curse to the north east was the Long Island Expressway, that enabled the worst of the worst douchebags to migrate east. The wealthy brainless from Hollywood were all for extending the LIE and LIRR thinking that would cut their travel time to their beach front McMansions, however it never occured to those low IQ dingbats that it would cut the douchebag criminal's travel time as well, many left and never returned when they saw the transient dreck moving closer and closer to burglarize their mansions, steal their Beemers, and rape their wimmens. This is what semolina bread and dago red were invented for: https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/16...nara-di-amore/ |

I never paid more than $5 but knew where to go. When I was working we were a minor supplier to the lobster industry but others had a large chunk of their income from it. I'm sure they are hurting, as well as some of the lobster boats. While it sucks short term, it may be good long term if the lobster beds are allowed to regenerate a bit. You will have more "bugs" and larger sizes. A couple of generations ago it was common to have many in the 3 to 5 pound range. Same with cod. The minimum legal size is 22" but a hundred years ago 48" was common. |
