From the pics you've posted all can see that your personal hygiene is in a state of "dereliction", why would one choose to even be within ten miles of you...

I'm not looking to debate but let's examine the contradiction of your statement. In the process of refuting my opinion you actually affirmed it. You say now the shot you took for the swine flu will be of no benefit to you now with the new bully on the block. I don't know. Maybe it will, maybe it won't.

I said the shots are a hoax and I still believe that's the case. Taking a vaccine for one strain of flu in a world where new strains pop up all the time seems pretty stupid to me. To each their own, of course

Of course you don't want to get sick. Who does? All I'm saying is that getting the flu and recovering from it (if) is a far more meaningful and proven form of immunization than any vaccine. And I do think people don't realize what effect meds and vaccines may have on them in the future.

That goes for anti depressants too. Kids born to coke or heroin addicted can be born addicted to this drugs. If this is true then I will assume the same would apply to pharmaceutical drugs such as anti depressants, spawning new generations of depressed people who will need the meds to control their moods. Just a theory. Unproven. Like the flu vaccine.

And I agree with those who pooh poohed mask wearing. Not saying it can't help, but the germs don't enter through the mouth and nose alone - the eyes have membranes too. Plus if the masks get wet (lots of breathing) the dampness can be inviting to a variety of germs.

Anyway, in your own way you admitted that the shot you got for the swine flu will likely be of no help this time around. Of course we don't know if that's entirely true or not. And yes, wearing the mask is more meaningful for people who already have the flu or think they might have it. It is worn to protect others, not the wearer (except for possibly a Typhoid Mary revenge style beating when people get sick and blame it on the mask wearer, or people with coughs who aren't wearing it). I am not taking this thing lightly but the same basic actions for avoiding the common cold are recommended for all airborne illnesses - clean hands and fingers off the face. I wouldn't take the vaccine if they made it mandatory. But hey, that's me.

I never had a shot for swine flu. What I meant was that the fact that
I've (probably) had swine flu, doesn't protect me against corona
virus, because the virus is different.

And maybe a flu shot is less bad for our bodies than having the flu.

I recommend gargling and sponge bathing. My dentist recommends vodka,
much better than Listerine.

You're wrong about that. The ukulele is popular everywhere on this planet! My guess is that wherever you are, there will be a ukulele within a small radius of you. They're that popular.

Ok, gotcha - but I still don't trust it. And I never said that getting sick from one flu will protect a person from another strain. But it is a fact that most people who get the flu, including this one, will likely not get that same flu again even if they stand in the middle of a pack of coughing sneezing sickos. It is a fact. I don't want to get sick. But if I do I will drink lots of water and moan my way through it. If I die I die. But if I live I will probably be immune to getting it again. And maybe it does have some kind of protective value against other strains. Who knows? I just know I don't trust the shot, especially the way it came from out of nowhere and now there are vaccines for just about everything and people are buying them because they think it's abnormal to get sick. They think they can buy their way out of everything.

Yes, I think you get some degree of immunity to the same strain and
similar strains. Although, with corona, they say a Japanese woman got
it twice. I don't know if that will be a common thing.

I'm not afraid of the flu shots, although I've only had it once or
twice.

What is it you don't trust?? You wrote --

There is no 'shot' for the corona virus at this time.
The regular flu shots have been around for years. Flu shots contain
vaccine against several flu virus each year, not just one. Protection
for childhood diseases (shots) have been around for years and years.
Are you a member of the Anti-Vac brigade?

I got a text that our club had an annual banquet shut down at a retirement center. It's the first time in 40 years. They're locking the place down to protect the residents. I suppose they had no choice in the matter. My guess is that it'll take a while for things to get back to normal.

These people who go into ultra hygiene mode only when the media provokes
them into it make me feel more sane now about washing my hands and using
sanitizer even when nothing big is afoot. These now again hygiene typed
remind me of people who never play the lottery but jump all over it when the
number gets real big and it's all over the media.

---
Thing is, I don't think a lot of them really do go into that mode. They just
claim they do!
---

I wonder what the percentage of people in industrialized nations is who have
gotten the Corona virus and have taken multiple flu shots over time. I would
never take the shot. I'm not Mr. Tough Guy, these illnesses scare me. But I
genuinely believe the best "cure" for any virus is to get it and live
through it. That's true immunity building. As fat as I'm concerned vaccines
for ever changing varieties of the flu are a hoax and maybe even dangerous.
People need to stop looking for cures for everything. Not getting the flu is
best of all. But if you get it and live through it - odds are 30 to 1 or
better in your favor you won't get it again.

If they do come up with a shot, I won't get it. I don't get the flu shot
either.

I said why. He was stuck at work. He lives in a Condo. I couldn't really
park in his lot and wait for him. I'd likely be questioned as to why I was
there.

He has a lot of allergies. I took a shower just before I left and put on
freshly washed clothes. I didn't ask about food intolerances but we are very
similar in many ways!

Nope. I did go there but wasn't able to stay for long because his son needed
a ride. That wasn't an excuse either. He works at a car lot and got a last
minute customer. I know how that goes. You guys just want to constantly
harsh my mellow.

Yes. I plan to go to Dollar Tree tomorrow if I can. Quick in and out. Mainly
I need bread and more cheap sponges. They don't have wipes at the door but
oddly enough, I bought a package for the car before this hit. I'll just
bring one with me.

Lowes is coming out to look at my stove. Not sure what time though. They
will call me in the morning.

Here, a lot of things that used to be available online are no longer. Such
as rice and beans at Walmart. All in store now.

There are many Corona viruses. All different.

Here, in the supermarket: no toilet paper and a sign saying they were
out of certain vitamins pills due to high demand.

===

Hopefully they will either fix it or give you a new one!

I think you might know this already but ... if you buy wipes etc, make
sure sure what you buy is antivirus ie high alcohol not antibacteria!

Here, a lot of things that used to be available online are no longer. Such
as rice and beans at Walmart. All in store now.

===

I hear a lot of shops have empty shelves but the one I went to, had
plenty of everything! If that will stays good is another matter

I rarely buy food stuff online so I don't know how that is! I think
the problem here is that people rush out to buy everything they can, which
leaves empty shelves, but there isn't really a shortage and the shops soon
order more.

Google Assistant on my phone keeps writing "coroner virus" when I use voice
recognition.

Maybe it's my pronunciation.

Either that or Mrs Malaprop has taken over.

There is a guy in one of the pickleball groups who is always talking
about healthy living. He and his wife refuse to get vaccinations. They
have both had shingles. She had it last winter. She also got pneumonia.
I have been vaccinated against both. I got the shingles shot a couple
years ago when it was free for people aged 65-70. It turns out that one
is only about 40% effective after a couple years. I found out I can
could get the new one that is 98% effective. Two shots cost me just over
$60, and from what I have heard of it, that would be well worth the
money even if that affliction only lasted one day.

I had the earlier one and had a mild attack of shingles 2 or 3 years ago
that I stopped with anti-virals. I had the rash for just over a week but
only about 12 hours or so of mild pain. In spite of this, my Dr
recommended getting the new one, so I did. Neither was free!! The first
cost about $200 and the second was similarly priced. I did get a free
pneumonia shot but a new one has come out and that was also expensive.

I thought drugs were so much cheaper in Canada. My first shingles
shot was about $25 and the new 2 cost about $90 total

I think it is impossible at this time to estimate how big this is

These things vary from Province to Province. They are considered
optional, I suppose. Alberta has a knuckle-dragging, right wing
government. Need I say more?
As a senior, my normal prescriptions are heavily subsidized. For
example, I take a blood thinner that costs $4.50 per pill but I pay $25
for a 90 day supply.

I know too many people who have had shingles, some of them with serious
cases. I do not want to get it. Thanks to my drug plan, It was only
$14.95 for each does and a $15 charge to inject it, so double that. If I
had to pay the full price I might question the value of it, considering
that it's pretty much a gamble. Only a fraction of the population even
gets shingles, so if you don't get it you can't even know for sure if
you avoided it naturally or if the vaccine worked. Having had the old
vaccine and the two doses of the new one, I am going to be really ****ed
if I do get shingles.

It seems that the number of new cases is going down in China and South
Korea. I don't know what that means. The Chinese are taking draconic
measures that wouldn't be acceptable in the west.

Maybe it will calm down during spring and summer in the northern
hemisphere. In the meantime, we'll keep it going during our winter,
ready to be handed back in October.

Having a problem with my oven just now but I think we fixed it. Turns
out Don had never used the 'clean' cycle on it and he forgot to put a
cookie sheet under something messy.

Smoke from the drips had him worried. Cleaned it well and set off the
clean cycle. CO2 monitors (we have 3, 2 replaced within the last year,
one at 3yo but was one of the 7 year units), show good. All read the
same. Smoke detector a bit wonky as it goes off often when cooking
anything that makes a little smoke (like blackened fish dishes).

Not the issues you have had but anyone can have a little trouble with a
stove oven.

It will take a lot of culling to get to me. I had the flu a lot when I was younger. Even though the strains change, my immunity is strong from my earlier suffering. You wish suffering on me, you need a tape of my past to see it. My suffering is over and done with. I look to the future with great positivity even knowing that it's window is narrowly closing on me, same as it is on you and every living thing on this stinking earth. But remember this Mr. or Mz Fraiche, whoever you are - I am not easy to kill and am willing right now to put into escrow any amount of money you desire to be safely held till the result of our bet - who between us will be the first to die - is over. Do you want to bet?
