It makes sense that you didn't get it. You don't learn from history.
The more power a person has, the more critically they need to be
followed. No servile obedience.

Or the rank insignia on the car windshield. I always got a kick out of
Mom and I being saluted when we drove on base to go shopping.

I'm pretty damn sure you did. Or at least some stupid comment about
officers not knowing what goes on in the field.

Why do you think I trotted out Dad's military record to you the *first
time around*? Because of some snide comment you made. Oh, maybe you
included a winky or something. Heh.

I happen to *know* my father would have despised Trump. Now you're
saying I shouldn't disrespect my father's memory by saying so. EOM.

For me the funny one was I was station in Hawaii on a marine base and
lived (for a time) on a Navy one. The base decals of the Marine base
had them salute me at the Navy one.

Them poor boys must have got worn plumb out, running back and forth
to salute you. Bet they were panting hard every time they saluted.

Did you laugh at them?
